contradictory but yes you did ask why Christianity is right for me.
No, I asked why Christianity is right, period. As in right for everyone. I don't care if you feel it's right for you and you alone, rather if you think it's right for everyone.

As EG pointed out, there are Christians who fight, Christians who kill, Christians who rape. What's your point?
There are Buddhists who aren't very good Buddhists, just as there are Christians who aren't good Christians. You don't judge a religion on the actions of the people who fail to follow it.

Using that metaphor, every product I've come across has left me with yellow teeth. In other words, no religion has met my expectations. Is this wrong? I don't think so, but that's just me.
Taiwanese senators punching each other in front of the national television, Chinese who kill their daughters just to retain the prestige of having sons. and Japanese who killed and raped so many women and children during 2nd world war. these are buddhists.
They're also human, and humans are crazy. What they did, is not encouraged in the Buddhist community. Fighting, killing and raping is not part of their religion. Most of the Christians I know get into fights, lie, steal, cheat, and are pretty greedy. A lot of christians blow up abortion clinics with people in them. Or murder gay people. Am I saying Christianity condones this? No. But, these are Christians.
I want to know why you think Christianity is more "right" than Islam if there's no sure way to tell which is right and which isn't.

Right, well I didn't ask what religion is right for you, orange. I really don't care what people think about religion in a personal sense because that's not my concern.
contradictory but yes you did ask why Christianity is right for me.

i totally agree with this. it's all about time. i just answered what was asked of me. actually religion is not for every body. not every body will be able to fully accept it. some just make fun out of it. there is always a time for something. maybe its not yet the time to know.

Buddhists tend to care very much for their fellow Buddhists. For them, living in harmony is key. Sounds pretty nice, doesn't it? So you see, Christianity isn't the only religion that encourages "good behavior."
well, most of the Buddhist i know like the TAiwanese, Chinese, Japanese..are quite "not like what you said". Taiwanese senators punching each other in front of the national television, Chinese who kill their daughters just to retain the prestige of having sons. and Japanese who killed and raped so many women and children during 2nd world war. these are buddhists.
Condemning non-believers is not Christian-like. Some don’t believe because they either gave up hope, or lost faith that there is no true religion because nothing is happening to them or something happened to them. Some are just victims of misinformation. Some just plainly believe in themselves. But those are not justifiable reasons to condemn a non-believer. Condemning is judging already. Are they much wiser than God? Instead, the wrong perception of these people about God should be corrected not judged. If all claim to be true, who then is false? Who then is not of God then when every religion is claiming that theirs is of God? (Given that If God has an enemy who is the Devil, the Devil will surely build his own kingdom or church too. He envies God so much that he wanted to be like God that’s why he was cast off.) Why does a religion proclaim that theirs is of God in the first place? It’s kind of trying to reassure oneself. Claiming is an easy thing to do, but proving is the hardest part. It’s like shopping for tooth whitening products that all claim to do the job, but of course not all will meet your expectation. But there’ll be one product that will effectively whiten your teeth. What if you find out the Truth? What would you do? I wanna know what your ideas on how God calls on people to know the Truth.
matt.13:16 But blesssed are your eyes for they see:and your ears, for they hear.
I know a little bit about how you feel. I was raised Catholic too and have been going to Catholic schools for about 5 years now. I don't really like to affiliate myself with the church for reasons of my own. But, I think that you can't blame the church for something that a few individuals decided to do. The church however, deals with them and really its none of our business how they deal with it except the victims'. Christianity is defiinitely a comforting religion and I think that if you need comfort you could go to any catholic and get help if needed. Think about it yourself and don't rely on advice from others here. Not because they're not reliable but because you need to figure it out yourself.

Right, well I didn't ask what religion is right for you, orange. I really don't care what people think about religion in a personal sense because that's not my concern. But you can't say Christianity is right for everyone without having substantial third-party evidence to back it up. Everything you said about that Christian group could be just as easily applied to, say, a Buddhist group. Buddhists tend to care very much for their fellow Buddhists. For them, living in harmony is key. Sounds pretty nice, doesn't it? So you see, Christianity isn't the only religion that encourages "good behavior."
quote:
Christianity brings the old Godly-way of living a holy, clean, discipline and God-centered life apart from what the normal people of the world is living like sex, drugs, alcohol, party, adultery, envy, strife, reveling, and other cheap thrills that perk up their so called boring life.
But who's to say that the kind of lifestyle Christianity supports is the right one? Some people (such as I) can be perfectly happy and lead a fulfilling life while living some of the "cheap thrills" you brought up. It's not impossible to live life how you wish and still retain a sense of discipline. It's called moderation. For instance, you'd be likely to say that alcohol is bad, but in moderation it's nothing of the sort. Alcohol only leads to bad behavior if abused. On the other hand, a glass of red wine every so often can actually lengthen your lifespan.
Anyways, I'm glad Christianity is working out for you, but don't expect it to work for everyone. That's all I'm asking. Don't call a religion the "right" religion if you don't have solid proof.
Also, with regards to the typhoon, I would call that luck. Or coincidence, rather. I don't much believe in luck, either. They were in the right place at the right time. As we all are at some point in our lives.
If you were a scam artist, will you say to your victim “hey, im a scam artist and I want all of your things.” No cunning and sly scam artist would do that. You would use pleasant words and tactics to slowly lure your victims without them noticing that you are trying to make them a fool of themselves. This is the world today. There are things that we think it is good for us, but underneath is a trap. That why it is called a trap. You wouldn’t notice it.
Doesn't this undermine the rest of the argument?
Only simple and quiet words will ripen of themselves. For a whirlwind does not last a whole morning, nor does a sudden shower last the entire day.
Before I answer why Christianity is the right religion, I’d like to say that not all who say they are of Christ’s are true. Christianity has been subdivided by man to different smaller factions who God did not instruct man to do. God created Christianity only. Let’s take a parallelism, if dad’s name is Barry White, the name of his child must bear the surname White, isn’t it? If Mr. Barry White has a car or toothbrush, we will say it is Mr. White’s car or Mr. White’s toothbrush. It would be inappropriate if we say Mr. Grey’s car or toothbrush. Same goes with God who sent Christ, His only begotten Son, who revised the old commandments of Israel therefore, Christianity is born, and that’s why the religion’s name is after Christ to show possession. To know a true religion is through the DOCTRINE that it is bringing to men. Certain people join groups because it is high-class, celebrities and world known politicians, or friends are there. In a religious group, it is the TRUTH that we should seek NOT because of other reasons. A bigger group doesn’t mean it is of the truth either.
Now, Christianity (laying God and the Bible aside for awhile) is the right religion for me because no other religion has so much discipline and love (with God as their disciplinarian and the Bible as their basis of God’s commandments). It upholds the real truth with doctrines and commandment with no flaws. Christianity brings the real truth to the world. It brings people who are willing to serve God whole heartedly together to live a holy and Godly life. It brings out the truth about almost everything that God has revealed to mankind about creation, man, life, death, and whatever that concerns man and religion. Anyways, there’s this Christian group (that is neither too big nor too small in number of members) that I’ve observed for many years. There were members who were once drunkards, smokers, fornicators and adulterous people that are now whole different beings – they’ve been changed and washed – all of their vices are gone – as what a real miracle should be. Men and women are taught to be sober and behave accordingly. In the brotherhood, though 70% to 80% of the members are living near and on the poverty line, there are no beggars or homeless among the brethren. Christians help fellow brethren with other’s needs because it is part of Christ’s doctrine to look for the needs of fellow brethren. It’s just practically “Christmas” every day. Criminal cases are almost none or 0%. Little or almost no member of the brethren has experienced raped or robbed. Old people or seniors are not sent to homes for other people to take care of them, but are being cared for by the church, even the orphans. Gays and lesbians are accepted as what a normal human being should coz they also deserve salvation from sins just like every body else. There is no racial discrimination and it is not allowed either. These Christians are taught how to raise children properly, how to discipline, as what God would recommend it. They are taught on how to tackle situations like in marriage, in human relationships, and are taught fully in God’s wisdom and knowledge that bind the whole brethren together. Children of the members are taught early on what things are pleasing to God’s eyes. Sounds too good to be true, isn’t it? That what made believe that this certain religion can really change man’s ways and life. Christianity brings the old Godly-way of living a holy, clean, discipline and God-centered life apart from what the normal people of the world is living like sex, drugs, alcohol, party, adultery, envy, strife, reveling, and other cheap thrills that perk up their so called boring life. Recently a super typhoon hit one of our provinces that almost washed away the whole town with mudslide, almost 300 people are dead, but reports have stated that none of the brethren got hurt or died though they lost their homes. (Thanks be to God) now, if that’s not a miracle, I don’t know what you’d call it. Luck?
matt.13:16 But blesssed are your eyes for they see:and your ears, for they hear.
wat i know about islam is that men are allowed to have more than one wife.. for me it isnt a bit practical same goes for men too. one "hell" is enough. Sex is free though. 2nd on their practice in going to that certain muslim place where they all gather around (sorry,i forgot), why did their god allow them to be hurt or die last time? if their god do care for them , why did it happen on a very sacred event?
Not liking certain parts of a religion is not grounds for thinking the religion is false. I could very well ask you why God lets faithful Christians die in car accidents.
Besides, you didn't even answer my question. Yes, none of your arguments will be able to fully persuade me to believe in Christianity, but that's not what I'm after. I want to know why you think Christianity is more "right" than Islam if there's no sure way to tell which is right and which isn't.
to start christians are jews who believe that the Messiah has come in the form of Jesus Christ, The jews meanwhile are still waiting for the Messiah and the Muslims while following the teachings of the prophet Mohammed are also still waiting for the Messiah to come (though they hold that Jesus was a powerful prophet instead of ignoring him completly like the Jews) but despite there differances God (whatever word you use for him) is still God
"The very existence of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done"."
the religion that is taught by the Bible.. can save us.
Islam says that the religion taught by the Qu'ran can save me. What makes you "right" and them "wrong?"
first of all, i know only a lil about Islam, but we have Muslim brothers here in the Philippines. so ill apologize first if my observations on our Muslim Filipino brothers are wrong before proceeding. wat i know about islam is that men are allowed to have more than one wife.. for me it isnt a bit practical same goes for men too. one "hell" is enough. Sex is free though. 2nd on their practice in going to that certain muslim place where they all gather around (sorry,i forgot), why did their god allow them to be hurt or die last time? if their god do care for them , why did it happen on a very sacred event?
to answer your question on being right and can attain salvation.. well, since you dont actually believe in God, how can my answers persuade you when Christianity involves God? but, anyways, the answers in proving God's existence may not only be seen through physical creations (in which you dont beliv) but through power. sometimes, we can be so stubborn. some people cannot feel God, maybe God has HIs purpose. you'll have your own time with God and to feel Him.. maybe you're just a lil too eager and too doubtful. when you ask you're girlfriend "why do you love me?" there will be answers but to prove that she loves you is through her actions. Actions speak louder than words. why so many religions bearing Christianity but with different applications of knowledge and rituals and opinions? one said, just believe and you're saved. the other Christian group said just do this or that, and you'll surely be in heaven.. watever crime you do, you will still be saved! so which one is it? they're teaching practices which are not genuinely of Christ(if you believe Him) , most of them are omitted and somehow perverted and not observed which is the "last will" of Christ - to observe and do his commandments. so what do you call those who say they are of Christ's but their leaders dont teach every thing wat members need to know. every body wants to be saved..evry body deserves the TRUTH unless you dont care at all for your life. so why is there a church of Satan? most of us are victims of leaders who are just brainwashing us - making us believe in certain things which are not even in the Bible. some things exist because there's a reason. some things happen because there's a reason. and the reason is with God - the unexplainable. but no matter wat other people answer is that is trying to prove the existence of God, its only up to you whether you'll accept it or not. coz i know you're looking for the real physical being of God. you're just too doubtful of every thing. - no faith. but dont' worry you wont be fucked up.. God knows your real intentions in life though you havent really "seen" him or He has not called you yet.. in this world, there are only 2 kinds of people and will only have 2 kinds of people. if you havent felt God yet, maybe in HIs coming, you will have the chance to get to know Him. Christ's second coming is not the end of the world.. it is the gathering of his saints who suffered tribulation.. and after that,,there will be a hundred year rule of Christ with his saints that is called the Millenium.. in which those who havent heard about HIm will have the chance to know the real TRUTH about good and evil. God will not judge yet as wat other groups were saying. after the millenium , SAtan wil be allowed to deceive the whole world again, to test those who will really follow Him and judgement day and ARMageddon.. so there, dont fret and be so desperate. God sees and knows you ARE looking for him. and eventually you're mind will all be cleared up.. you'll see
matt.13:16 But blesssed are your eyes for they see:and your ears, for they hear.
Hello well first things first. The VAtican or the Pope who invented the series of unending prayer is prohibited by God. In Matthew 6:7- dont use vain repetitions.. He doesnt like that .. uh uh.. well to leave from the faith youve grown with is to ask yourself this question . If God is perfect, he would've created a Church that is perfect too.. But to think that Catholic priests and Popes have offended and even murdered and instructed for mass killings.. aint for God.. coz God said "Thou shall not kill" Are you gonna just let your soul go to waste by some people who have wronged other people?
Hmm...so you are judging an religion based on the actions of some of the members?
How about this...you find me a religion where not a single member has ever committed a sin, and I'll convert.
juding a religion basing on the actions of some of the members... firstly, there are two kinds actions of people some members' actions are results of wat is taught to them by their leaders like rosary, kneeling on graven images. 2nd, it is of their of choice like smoking, drinking, wat have you. to judge a religion is through the doctrines that it is teaching or bringing to people. wen certain teachings are against the Bible or God, it is not of God.. if you believe on God or the Bible.
the religion that is taught by the Bible.. can save us.. though we sin , it is out of weakness, out of not knowing, out of sudden emotion, out of our own plain human fragilety.- that is not leading to death - that is forgivable by God. but there is a sin that God will not forgive and that is if you know it is a sin unto God, yet you stil do it willingly, consciously, deliberately.. then God will not tolerate it. anyways, if you dont beliv in the Bible my explanation would be pointless to you. but anyways, as wat is stated in the bible..sin has two kinds - one leading to death and the other one that doesn't so wat kind of sin are you pertaining to? the apostle Paul have sinned but it is out of his human form. if man is not sinnning anymore, chances are, we might exalt ourselves from other people.. we would be like Lucifer, who is perfect, but because he wanted more.. he was cast away from God's camp.
matt.13:16 But blesssed are your eyes for they see:and your ears, for they hear.
You guys have an interesting way of interpreting the Bible. It's like pseudo-Catholicism, from what I've read. I could be getting wrong information. I'm just surprised that I've never heard of it before.
Plaid, I know what your going through. I used to go to church every sunday, I used to go to Catholic school. And right around age 14, I realised that I didn't feel anything. I then was forced into confermation class where they told me that I had to agree with the Vatican indefinateley. I didn't tak to well to taht. Anyway, I haven't found a r4eligion or system of beliefs that I like, but I think that you should just look around and try things until you feel what you are looking for.Thats the advice I can give you. I hope it helps.
