What is the true nature of Waldo? Why does he wander so? Waldo is as a tumbleweed in the desert of our lives. He is ephemeral; just as we find him, he is lost again.

However, dismissing Waldo as a mere wanderer does a great disservice to his vast complexity. It is clear that the author intends Waldo's eternal quest as more an allegory than a mere child's amusement. What might he be an allegory for? The character of Waldo is rife with symbolic meaning.

Consider first the following question: where is Waldo? The most obvious interpretation, of course, is that Waldo is symbolic of God. Thus, the process of searching for Waldo is in fact an allegory of man's eternal quest for spiritual meaning. Like God, Waldo is omnipresent. I mean, damn. Look at him go. One minute he's at the beach, the next minute he's off in ancient Rome hanging out with the Emperor. You know who else hung out in ancient Rome? Jesus.

Waldo presents spirituality is a lifelong quest, rather than a weekly trip to church. Just as you find him, he's lost to you again, lost in the pages of the book of life in the library of the quest for knowledge. You come closest to knowing the true nature of Waldo in your search for him, much like God. You do not know where Waldo is as you search for him, but you have faith that he exists.

Lest I seem biased towards Judeo-christian conceptions of spirituality, I feel compelled to state emphatically that Waldo is everywhere. The extent of his presence among us is as vast as the stripes upon his sweater. Waldo does not discriminate based on religion; he asks only that you believe. Whether you be Christian, Jewish, Muslim, or some demographic minority that no one gives a flying fuck about, Waldo asks only that you believe in him.

Where is Waldo? He is inside you, in every possible way.

Better hope he's wearing protection.

Aww...

*pats FG4 in the back*

It's okay. Waldo is just plain evil. You don't want him anyways.

It used to be an underground movement, back in the early 1990s. Children suddenly were becoming enlightened with the theory of Waldo and his theologies. Some years later, very dedicated worshipers, Khary among them, decided that Waldoism was too good to never inform the world about the amazingness of a guy in red and white stripes.

Ah, so it was a cult? Well the evil of Waldo should have stayed in the undergrounds. And I will fight and do my best so that it stays there! No, even better, I will destroy every stripe and every book and the world will hear my outcry as far as the eye can see!

*breaths hard*

Okay, well maybe not ever book per se. But you get the idea. Wink

There is no Waldo but Waldo and Martin Hanford is his prophet.

Well it's simple Cap. You are either on the side of evil, which is Waldos side. Or you are on the side of what is good....

Hmm...evil does sound more fun. And more my style...Hmm. I'll have to think about this...

What is evil about Waldo?

And I would never feel pain / and never be without pleasure, ever, again / and if the reign stops, and everything's dry, he would cry just so I could drink the tears from his eyes...
