Public school has one goal in mind and one goal only: to equip people to get a job/go to college after high school.

WorthWaitingFor, I think you missed something very important: I can't AFFORD to be homeschooled anymore. My family is now so dependent on my mum's income as well as my dad's we'd be in serious trouble if she quit. My sis is getting married:money. My brother and my sister are going to school:money. They both need cars so my parents are helping a bit with the payments so they don't have to get any more financial aid: money. My mum wants us to have cell phones: money. Gas for all those cars is hell-and my sibs are even trying to self-support at that!:money. I'll be getting a job and a car next summer since book illustrating isn't a steady enough income: money. My grandma moved up here to live near us: money. I've got some freaky disease or something but all we know is that the doctors can't figure out what it is:money.

money money money!!!!

Did I mention homeschooling itself is pricey?

I'm not the only person who is too poor to go to private schools or be homeschooled so the crap the government chooses to give my overactive brain and my peers' isn't enough. We shouldn't be disadvantaged because we can only afford to get on a big yellow bus that gets us to school an our early (lost sleep, and then the snobs look down on us for using "public transportation."-AS IF THAT'S A SIN! Stuck up, spoiled rich kids-no offense to the nice and cool rich kids who couldn't give a galleon how you got around, only the nasty ones.), then we have to sit there, half awake, for the whole day, get on the bus and wait in traffic for an hour, get home and crash.

I'm speaking for a great deal of the student body, not just myself.

So don't tell me to "just be homeschooled again" because if I HAD A CHOICE, I'd looongg since have started again

...so why can't you just be homeschooled again?

I happen to like my public school just fine. Yes, there are some things I don't like about it and yes, I spend about 60% of my time passing and 40% learning - but I still learn stuff and in the classes that I sometimes get bored in, I just bring word puzzles or something else like that to stimulate my brain. It's not your school's fault that you learned a lot when you were homeschooled and are now bored in their curriculum. If you had started public school to begin with, you probably would not be bored because you would not have learned all of this already.

What I'm trying to say is to not blame it all on the school - that maybe homeschooling just works better for you, especially since that's what you started out with.

I believe public shcools arent here to really teach us anything, but to learn the necesities to life especially in poor neighborhoods. I think the teachers and admin think that the people in poor neighborhoods are going to live a life of crime or end up working low minimum wage jobs leaving the kids who do want to learn in the dark. All schools do is pass you along. I think George Bush taking money out of education is an perfect example to this message.

I say that you should persue it. At my old school we had pigeon crap, mold and other stuff bad for you to breath in our air ducts. A lot of people got sick because of it. We do need less time off and stuff like that because I am overweight and I don't have enough time to go and work out and pretty much the only exercise that I get is going to karate once a week and I hate it. I agree that they should do something about it though.
