In PR grafitti artists (or whatever they're called) did really great pictures, usually about society or music or whatever, so we never minded them. What we did is let all the walls and cement fences be white so they could do grafitti on them, and since they had their space to do their stuff, statues and buildings were not damaged.

Just don't tell the city about your plan and everything will be awesome.

Um, okay, cEE, but I think what people find offensive is "graff" (as you call it) that defaces private property.

And I guess I just don't understand how people can consider spraypainting words to be art. Maybe I'm ignorant.

"Graff" is like any other type of art. In order for you to understand it, you must be educated about the art and what it is all about. You have to go back into History and understand why Graff started. Many people are quick to judge "people who write (spraypaint) on the walls" but are never willing to understand the beauty and significance of the "art". Just like photography, theatre, poetry, Graff is also an art, but is very misunderstood. The "writers" or "artists" express themselves through spraypaint just as a canvas painter would with his paint brush and acyrilics. Art should not be judged for their are no limits to art. Now don't forget there is a distinct difference between Gang graffiti and non-Graffiti. Actually theres a BIG Difference. So before we start talkin' lets start from scratch and research, understand the Graffiti culture and the ART. Til then i'll speak to u on tha Walls. Graff will forever Live.

Yeah overall it sounds like a really good idea. It might even inspire more creativity.

That'll work. Except for some idiots who do it anyway, most people will write only where its allowed. I'D like to do graffiti, but without a place like that I won't. Cool idea.

Life is like a box of crayons. Some are fat, some thin, some are short, some tall, some don't have much wrapping, some have funny names, and all are different colors... but they fit very nicely into the same box- unknown.

I think that its a great idea. There are obviously some "budding artists" in your area that are looking for a place to display their talents...Giving them a place to express themselves for no cost and freedom from punishment is a good idea. Unfortunately, depending on the kind of people decorating the streets, giving them a legal, correct place to graffiti may "defeat the purpose". Graffiti is an easy way to break the law and defy authority w/o too much remorse, and very little chance of being caught. Those people may resort to new ways to defy the authorities, which is not a good thing. Fortuanately, if thats their purpose, they'll get caught doing other things.

Please don't mind my seemingly pointless train of thought...I dont believe in the backspace key.

I think when graffiti does damage to important property, it's bad. Brick walls and stuff aren't bad. But for example, on halloween kids from the next town over came and did graffiti on cars. That's so messed up, why would anyone do that? Why can't they just do it on a wall?
