I wanna do DI (dramatic interp) for speech team and im looking for a piece. here are the rules:
Dramatic Interpretation This is a memorized event in which the student presents a selection of literature which is primarily serious in nature. There may be some humor in the presentation, but the overall presentation must be serious in nature. The presentation should include an introduction which cites the name of the piece and the author, and should develop the narrative and/or character/s via vocal and physical techniques. The cutting should provide a cohesive scene or story line (containing a definite beginning, middle, and end.) The material must be found in printed literature. No scripts, costumes, or props should be used in the presentation. Time: 10 minute maximum including introduction [30 second grace]; no minimum.
HOWEVER i do not want anything shorter than around 7 minutes (you hafta talk long enough for the judges to judge, you know?). number of charectars is flexible, as is gender of characters. if its a monologue i'd like a girls momolouge. narrators are okay. if you know of a selection that fits this or a good book that might have something, let me know. remember though, i'm looking for dramatic.

You have a ten minute max? Nice...We only have eight.
Do you have a seperate Prose Interp category, or does Dramatic cover both?
