Paisano, I like the "be healthy" attitude. I was just reading this NPR article about how the BMI (body mass index) is B.S. and not an actual indicator of healthy weight.

what i think the main problem for women our age is that we look towards celebrity figures who have to remain extremely skinny....but we are the real women!!! different shapes and sizes.... men are pigs who liek to see a girl with big boobs tiny waist etc but that is also because of the media!!!

my only thought is screw them!

feeling fat and low girl who is trying to understand the conflict between average size girls...and the definition of fat.

I feel exactly the same way you girls do and then what kills me about the skinny girls im friend swith they sit there and say to my face that im not fat im just chubby, thick, or big-boned but then the first minute you say something to them they dont like they retaliate by calling you fat when just two minutes ago they were saying you are not fat.

from the girl who is 180something pounds and has never had a boyfriend and has never been kissed.

I agree with you EarthGoddess.

In 5th grade I had a friend like that, she still is only 90-ish lbs. But in 5th grade I was chubby. I was 4'8 and 134 lbs. One day that friend I had was so desperate for attention, she began saying 'I'm soo fat, I need to go on a diet' I said, " I feel like punching you so badly right now! What do you weigh, 80 lbs.? Shuttup!" I don't think it occured to before how it made others feel.
I became a vegiterian this past summer, and lost 20-ish lbs, and am 5'5. (so now I'm 115ish lbs.)
Oh, and sorry CareBear14, but what kind of a freak are you? You know you're wieght that exaclty? Notice how I don't know my wieght, I say 'ish'. It doesn't bother me. The last time I stepped on a scale was 2 months ago! DON'T CARE SO MUCH! Pounds mean nothing, really.

I hate it, too, EG. The next time I see a stick of a girl whine about how she's too fat, I'm going to grab a fan and blow her away.

I am so effing sick of girls saying, "Oh, I'm so fat. I'm so fat. I'm 5'5" and I'm at my ideal body but I'm so fat, I hate being fat. Blah blah."

Well, how the fuck do you think girls like me, who weigh 170lbs must feel about themselves when skinny girls constantly say they're fat? Or are you guys so selfish that your own body image is all that matters to you? I try so hard to feel good about my body but girls like you make me feel horrible. I can't even imagine how your larger classmates must feel. You're not fucking over weight. Get over it.

The average female (when I was in middle school, so it's dated, sorry) was/is about 5'4" and weighs about 145 pounds. You are at a healthy weight and have a healthy BMI.

Middle schoolers are just cruel. Though it may hurt, ignore them as best you can.

By the way, they may be telling you you're fat because they're either jealous or insecure themselves. Don't listen to them; most will grow up in a few years.

If people treat you bad becasue of your weight than they are the ones with the problem and it's very ignorant of them to do that.Rise above it, don't let them think it bothers you.
