I recieved a letter in the mail from a corporation called Edifi asking me to come to an interview free of charge because I had been selected as some one in my area to recieve finacial aid for college. First of all- it was addressed to my fake penname for on the internet and my writing.so I suspected something.when I looked on the internet I found out it was a scam. So don't go if they contacted you. They'll just try to get 800 bucks out of you at the end of the meeting.

ok from reading all these posts all i can say is majority rules, edifi is a scam. most say its a scam some say its worth your money but from what i read its a waste of money. i say that because if you can get a list of colleges, there estimates, and location from your counselor and financial aid from other companies for free then all your really paying for is them signing the FAFSA papers IF!!!, they really do it, oh and those people who support edifi and claim that they're helped by them are most-likely employees of the company. >> cuz if those people r real customers of edifi then its obvious to say that they help out maybe 1 out of 200 of they're customers.

So last weekend i went to the meeting. It lasted for about an hour. I was very impressed my parents paid for this service, but to tell you the truth after reading these post im starting to second guess this service, rather or not my parents just lost about $1100 , and im going to be upset. They have called me, they have sent me emails, estimates on colleges, and by Nov.1st i have to slim down my list of colleges to 5, instead of 9. They are working with my family, but i dont know rather or not its just BS...on top of my counselor just go on the announcement and said it's a scam!!! so what am i soppose to believe?
please email me: ramirez_nayareth@Yahoo.com

Call them right away - they will do an estimated out of pocket for all the colleges you want. It really helped me choose. quote: Originally posted by dancer2207: my parents and I went to this meeting when I was in eighth grade and they did pay the money they requested, which was like almost 1,000 dollars, but now I'm going to the 11th grade and all I have received from them is the yearly handbooks and thats about it. I don't know what to do, because I'm almost certain that this whole thing is a scam. This is really frustrating because I'm starting to look at colleges and scholarships and they supposedly said that they would be helping me out with all of this.

EDIFI filled out the whole FAFSA form for my mom. Thank god because filling that form out is like trying to do your own taxes, and my cousin got it sent back to her four times and missed her deadline. Their online test prep also helped me get a great SAT score and they did an out of pocket estimate for all 8 universities I was looking at. The program also helped me find out which universities have the most gift aid. That's one of the main reasons I chose Stanford University in California. They are an 81% gift aid school - bottom line - I won't be paying be paying $130,000 in student loans when I graduate, only 11,000. (My school costs $36,000 annual) - Thank you EDIFI and thanks mom for paying for their program for me!!!! I highly reccomend EDIFI quote: Originally posted by chikonguitar: I recieved a letter in the mail from a corporation called Edifi asking me to come to an interview free of charge because I had been selected as some one in my area to recieve finacial aid for college. My daughter just received an invitation in the mail to attend this so-called "personal interview" bla bla bla. They make it sound like she was selected from a few elite. This is nothing but a scam. My oldest is currently in college and we were warned by the financial aid office never to pay for any of these services...they should all be free. The FAFSA form is free to everyone to fill out and if you need help that's what the guidance office is there for. This invitation isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

I work with the Department of Education and I help students who are having issues filling out their fafsa. first of all, FAFSA is the acronym for the FREE application for federal student aid, which is the general application for all federal loans, grants, and work study. THIS IS A SCAM! Someone JUST called me(a Financial Aid Administrator from a school) saying that two of her students just paid $500 to fill out a fafsa with them, and they didn't even do it correctly! Well I am here to let you all know that you can FILL OUT YOUR FAFSA FOR FREE! ON FAFSA.ED.GOV AND GO TO THE SECOND COLUMN WHERE IT SAYS FILL OUT A FAFSA AND SELECT THE 08-09 SCHOOL YEAR. mY EMAIL IS KUFRESH@KU.EDU AND IF ANYBODY HAS ANY QUESTIONS SHOOT ME AN EMAIL! DONT FALL FOR THIS. YOU CAN CALL US AND WE CAN HELP YOU WITH YOUR WHOLE APP IF YOU NEED IT!

My Niece received a letter and she was so excited but after researching on google and the better business bureau I realize they are a scam. Otherwise all these people are lying on them for no reason. This is something we can do ourselves and it is clear a few people who work with them are on here trying to say they are happy with the results. Unless you are an illiterate it is unlikely you will pay to have some forms fill out. I told her to have them call me if they call her so I can get NewYorker On them People do your homework or it will cost you. The better business bureau alone has enough information for you to beware.

I am glad to see a good comment about this company. My son and I just signed up for them this past weekend and I decided to do this so that my son gets the chance that I never got. And he is going to college to do better than me in life. I honestly dont like paper work and I know how the government can confuse people with the legal wording of its paperwork. And I feel like if I can pay someone whose done this before then it should be done right versus me not knowing what they are asking for half the time. I feel like I would rather pay someone to do this so that my son has a better chance than if I did it and made a mistake and he had no chance. So I feel I have done my best for him. quote: Originally posted by pleased: Wow, I'm surpised to see so many unfavorable comments. I have been extremely happy with Edifi's results. My daughter is a Junior at a private college in NC and Edifi did a great job of making sure she was granted all the scholorships and grants possible. Yes, we paid $800 when she was a junior in high school for the service, but it has provided more than $12,000 yearly in additional funds for her education.
I guess it just goes to prove. You have to do your research. Good Luck!

I am a professional with two degrees and a mom of two teenagers. I have been very impressed with the amount of help we have recieved from Edifi. I researched this company before we used them and found out that yes, there are services that will help you with these forms and yes, some school counselors will HELP you with these forms. They will NOT do them for YOU! There are many places you can get help, but no ONE that will do them for you or get you the most money/grants available. Yes, you do pay for the service and yes they tell you that you pay for this service. I don't think that is a scam. If you want to pay someone to do work you can do yourself that is called a "service." That is corporate AMERICA. I believe they do it well. If you have the time and are brilliant like "ANGRY PASIA" with their vast knowledge of vocabulary, I am sure he/she had no trouble getting an education. It is evident with the "big" words he/she used and the large amount of money he/she had stashed in the "car." As for the rest of us, we choose to pay people that are good at something we are not as knowledgable at. As for those not sure as to whether to participate, I can only say that I have not been disappointed. My son's SAT/ACT scores have improved, they have been easily accessible, have filled out many grant/scholarship forms, have changed directions with my child many times and he is just now going on to be a senior. I am pleased an look forward to seeing what they can do for him. My daughter has just completed her freshman year and we are looking at signing her up at a fraction of the cost. Be glad to keep you posted.

i don't even know what to think right now. there are comments saying it's bad and comments saying it's good. well i signed up with them last summer. at first it was great, i got phone calls and e-mails and stuff in the mail. but like 2 months ago i realized that i never got the books i was suppossed to get for my freshman, sophmore, junior, and senior years of highschool. i've thought of calling and just haven't been able to find the time between all the stuff i do. as soon as i saw this post i told my mom, and she said, are you serious? after all the money i put into that?, but kinda makes sense doesn't it?
ahh! i should call them then...

Hey everyone! I just wanted to let you guys know that Edifi is a scam. I just went to one of their meetings and one of the consulors was pressuring my dad and I into signing a contract with them for 9 months. The 1st payment was $99.00 and every 10th of the month we would have to pay $131.09 for 9 months for their service. It is a scam because a legit company never ask for money up front. Secondly, they said in the siminar that they will fill out the FASA forms for you and other forms for you too. You can do all these things by yourself for free without having to give up your own money. So my dad and I are going to take this up to the Better Busissness Bearu and hopefully straighten things out so this doesn't happen to you and anyone else. If this has happen to you PLEASE, PLEASE cancel your debit cards or whatever before they try to rip you off. Thanks. I hope this was helpful!

Hi chantee77 my mom is in with the edifi deal to and im trying to tell her i believe it is a scam, even if it isnt all they to is technically fill things out for you and give you advice that you can get from school and such. But i thought i would let you know that the way to get this exact help for free is through your school guidance counselor. Just to try to help you out!!! But ask your guidance counselor for help and they will help you out with that, i learned that through a few other people. quote: Originally posted by chantee77: i really dont know what to think but i already went and they took 100 dollars from my parents pocket the first time i went, and now they have to pay 131 per month. Im starting to think that it is a scam. Every body keeps on saying that you could do it free but can somebody please tell me how i could do it for free?

Okay, my 16 year old son received a postcard in the mail yesterday, offering him a free consultation program.
Little known fact: I work in higher education, and the company I work for New Hampshire Higher Eduction Assistance Foundation, offers these EXACT same (if not better services) 100% free. Please do your research, there is a great chance there is an organization in your state that does the same

My parents signed me up for Edifi's services almost 5 years ago. I looked through the info, got online a little but mostly I didn't do anything. I thought it was mostly a waste of money at first. I went to a local community college and didn't even have them fill out forms for me because they helped me at the school. I really thought my parents had wasted their money. But then, I wanted to transfer to a 4 year school and felt overwhelmed so I called Edifi. Even though I was past my contract date they said since they hadn't completed work for me (my fault, not theirs), they would extend my enrollment for no extra money. I did my research using their website, got estimates from them that were almost exactly what the schools came up with when I got my offers and they took care of all my financial aid paperwork. The paperwork was a lot more than when I first went to community college and the job they did seemed to be more extensive than the help I got for free (you get what you pay for). The school I wanted the most sent an offer and Edifi reviewed it along with the other offers I got. They said the school's offer was kind of low and they wrote an appeal letter for me. I mailed the appeal letter and in just a few weeks the school sent me another offer. It was almost $5000.00 more in gift aid than the first offer. I never would have been able to do that on my own. I wish I had followed through using Edifi from the beginning. If you don't use the program after you buy it, it will be a waste of money, but if you do use it, It is well worth the money. Four years ago I would have been writing about what a rip off or what a scam Edifi was when in fact, I was the one to blame.
