Everyone is talking about the entire Bush thing (i hate Bush anyway, but let's move on)I wonder if anyone heard about certain schools in some states such as Baltimore and California banning dirty dancing. Enough with the Freedom of Speech thing, what about our teenage right to express ourselves? In this generation, we dance like that. Now, i almost hate to say it, but if you go to a black dance, there will be rap and hip-hop playing. That kind of music is awful hard to come up with dance moves to, in my opinion. Grinding seems to be the only type of dancing that compliments to the beat of that music. Each genre of music has its own ways of dancing to it: rock, jazz, pop, etc. Grinding is just one of the many ways of doing it. It is how teens dance this age. First it's stuff in school (which is portially understandable depending on how you look at it)such as during class hours. But i beleive that the grinding usually takes place at the school dances. It's dance for crying out loud! You pay nearly 5 dollors or somewhere in that area for a three hour or so dance, and now you're being told you can't dance that way?!? Yes, grinding does resemble sex is some way, shape, or form but for crying out loud. They might as well make us drones. Why do they think we're always bad? Because we can't ever do anything our own way! Now, does anyone have any input?

Ppl when will u learn its not bout 'racism' theres no color dancing its all dancing done differently than others. U no nstead of letting ppl banned certain types of dirty dancing u have 2 make a stand, ya no put yur ft. down & tell ppl they dont no what they'r doing by bannning dirty dancing. Yes, its a way of having fun & xpressing yurself. Y let sum ppl get n yur way & banned sumthing u like that gives u sumthing 2 do/feel. W/out any physical fighting do sumthin bout it. Ya no if a group of ppl ban 1 type of dance then u mite as well take all the fun away bcuz it gives ppl sumthin 2 do/feel keeps them bizy & it teaches them alot. I dont like it when ppl banned things that r fun it takes away the joy n life. Its not sexual ntercorse its dirty dancing(grinding). If u dont like the banning issue then keep the dirty dancing up dont 'be affraid' 2 dance what u bleive n. Show them where u Stand n dancing. This is 4 now ill com bac later.

i agree...Grinding is DEFINITLY not just a black thing...My friends and i do it all the time at dances in s***. I guess its a way to express ourselves, but its also just fun. I wouldnt say that i do it because i want to express myself, more that im a girl who just wants to have fun. so yea, i dont think they have a right to ban it, but on the other hand, it can get sorta dirty.... Wow, what an amazing post.
Confused I don't know what you ment by saying that grindin' is considered a 'black dance',there is only one way to dance to black music and that is grindin', and that only blacks listen to hip hop and rap. But I do know that many of my WHITE frineds grind and many of them also love to listen to hip hop and rap. I myself, a black woman, listen to different kinds of music from different cultures. And there are several different ways to dance to hip hop and rap, becides grindin', and if you don't know the dance ti wasn't meant to be.
I think you must have made a mistake posting this message. Your fingers MUST of slipped several times on the keyboard. I've never met a person quite like you. But I guess there is a first for every thing.
What I want to know is how racist can you get?

You need to go to the racist school of whitees and take some more classes, or better yet how about you dress up in a clan uniform and wear it to a rap concert. STUPID STUPID JUST PLAIN STUPID!!!! Mad Mad Mad Mad

In terms of me saying "black dancing" didn't mean that only African- Americans dance that certain way, but in many schools, that is often the case. Yes, maybe some white kids dance like that, but it is often seldom. Grinding doesnt mean that you want to sleep with that person, but some people don't know HOW to dance and that becomes quite a vague issue compared to many other forms. Yes, there all other kinds of dancing, but grinding is more popular ad found among more of the African- Americans. And just because you're as "white as you can get" then comparing them to the fact they like rap and hip-hop is actually kind of racist. Grinding, along with many other forms of dancing, is purely selective. If teachers wanted their students not to dance that way, they offer dance lessons after school, or simply stop with school dances. You should be allowed to dance anyway you feel more comfortable. I personally don't like grinding, nor the ideal of it, but if that is what you like and/or used to, then someone shouldn't take that away from you. It is simply a school dance, and unless you directly tell the person you want to go to bed with them, then it in no way is a symbolism of desiring sex.

What is a black dance? Confused That's pretty stereotypical, saying that only white kids don't grind or listen to hip hop or rap. My best friend is about as white as you can get, and his favorite artists are Naz and Bob Marley. Not traditional "white music" right? And I'm so sick of people saying white people can't dance. Grinding is not the only form of dancing, and yes, every genre of music has it's traditional dance, but i've seen people grinding and "backing it up" to the Doors. I think that if you are at a school dance, it may be unfair, but the teachers or administrators have the right to say you can't dance in a way that could be construed as sexual, as grinding is. But dance has always been a form of expression, grinding being no exception. But just because you are grinding does not mean that you are sending out the message that you want to have sex. If you are in a club, grinding with a guy/girl, and he or she rapes you, they can't defend themselves saying that you were grinding, so obviously you wanted sex.

hmmm....... Im not sure what a "black dance" is but i sure wish i knew where to find one so i could go there and get my *** kicked when I walk in with my cowboy hat and spurs.

But on a more serious note, there is definitly a lot of dances you could do to hip-hop. I dont think you are expressing yourself with grinding either. I mean you are expressing to your dance partner that you want to **** them, but thats about it.
I do think you should be alowed to dance however you want though, even if the dance is kind of........ lame.

A black dance? What the hell? What constitutes a black dance? Just because you have problems finding other ways to come up with dance moves doesn't mean grinding is the only way to dance to hip hop and rap.
