Why does everyone keep saying no? I mean rap is such a big influence that it's not even funny!! Rap is soo well, unexplanable! And not in the good way! Everyone is just saying no because they actually like the crap called rap.. Unlike me. Just because you like it DOESN'T mean it's sanitary.

No I just think its the way people changed rap who ruin kids education. I perfer the old raps such as Tupac when there was no put downs on girls and such.

Rap is useless music. Listen to some prog rock, thats real music Big Grin.

Causality (spelling?) is the key point here. Is it that the rap music makes people become druggy/violent etc, or do people who already engage in drugs and violence tend to like rap music? Food for thought.

There has been drugs, sex, and violence since before rap became popular. People want to blame rap for their kid's behavior problems because they don't want to deal with the real issue.

Maybe we should focus more on why kids let music tell them what to do than blame the music itself. I think that's the more important problem.

Yeah they do. A whole bunch of rock musicians have been blamed for things like that. Judas Preist, Marilyn Manson, Metallica, Twister Sister, and Gwar, just to name a few.

Also, if you're so smart. One would think your grammar and puntuation would be better than mine (I was a straight D student Smile ). Quit worrying about being popular and study harder.

wow ok first of all isn't it funny that just because it has something to do with black people it has to be bad? it all depends on the person listening to it, i mean come on i know all of you aren't ignorant enough to just sit here and say just because kids listen to a certain type of music they have to be doing drugs or having sex get serious. i am a proud African-American that listens to ALL types of rap music and i am a good kid who practicly gets straight A's i have never done anything "nasty" and i have never done drugs. i am not only smart but i am actually very popular, i am not a nerd and im not a witch with a b. so i think people are stupid to believe this nonsense. i mean people never talk about how rock music might influence someone to kill themselves or do drugs and drink so this is stupid and it makes me mad to hear that peopla are so stupid to believe this!

It's funny how the media can say that negetive hip hop is a bad influence of teens while at the same time they promote the heck out of it. They say that rappers arnt good role models but at the same time they promote thug rappers like Eminem. Why can't they support the more positive rappers such as Will Smith or LL Cool J?

Hey, why all the picking on rap? What about death metal and emo music, don't they encourage anger and depression? Maybe we should just ban everything but bubble gum pop and then we'll all be happy and act like Hilliary Duff all the time. I mean Lizzie McGuire doesn't do drugs! (although it would've been an awesome episode if she did)

Seriously, I hate most rap because it's usually either about how rich and wanted the rapper is, or about having sex. The songs about drugs aren't really as popular, at least not mainstream, but some rap is good and I don't think it really encourages people to commit fellons. I'm honestly more offended by the songs that (to quote my mother Roll Eyes) are borderline pornographic. Kids listen to radio, it's just icky imagining them singing along to candyshop.

i know a lot of people and they do drug and they dont listen to hip-hop. remember in some of todays hip-hop also do alot of drinking. a lot of people do that and they dont listne to hip-hop. look it doesnt matter if they listen to hip-hop or not, a person will still do drugs (i mean the stupid ones). rap is hip-hop. it all blends together into one. hip-hop is a form of expression. back in the day hip-hop all about that. now its about money. drug, alcohol, ect. that kind of music is played more on tv and on the radio. BUT there are hip-hop that have messages and expression. like zion i and the coup. i think people who are not familiar to hip-hop basicly thinks if its on tv then its cool. its the thing. its go. ect.
remember they do drugs in reggea, some punk music, and others.

I don't think rap would done any harm, it's all about hard cold truth and the rappers' way to deal their life, if they want to life their lives as rappers, that's fine.

But you can't point at rappers and blame on them just because of teenagers.

there are more to life than rap, it's because of teenager's life and they might think oh im bored and decided to do something dangerous or just because of their friend that have influence on them, it's not just rap, becoming a crimincal would mean they want to earn respect.

i know all that because i grew up in the hood, so i pick a lot of things up.

sometimes you can easily point to the parents that bought up their children up quite badly or treat them like they're nothing, which is why they turn out to be bad and trouble-makers.

take a close look to the role models and people, they have influence everyone, even the rappers doesn't mean you blame them.

I don't really blame the teenagers like us that can be you know do bad stuff and dangerous stuff.

You got to take a close look and think about their life then you would understand why they're like that.

okay now rap doesn't make teens do stupid Sh*T the kids do it on there own because of the "everyone wants to be a thug" philosphy. ok you get the rappers talkin about sex and drugs and killing yes, but do you think they want the youth to do it? I really think in ways it's getting better cause look at the mary j blige and ludacris song and the lyfe jennings song and right now all you have is dance music out lean wit it rock wit it, chicken noodle soup, shoulder lean, walk it out etc. rap isn't the problem it's the kids who take their imaginations too far some people are forced to live the thuglife because thats all they know and then you get these stupid kids wanting to be "down" and end up getting themselves hurt the gangsta's aint worried bout you they only worried about livin another day. i'm listening to rap music now and reggaeton which is all about sex drugs and money and i dont do drugs i'm not a wanna be thug hoochie i'm still in school and thats how it's gonna stay i've listened to rap my whole life and i'm fine.

How does rap cause this? Rap does not teach you how to hotwire a car or how to load and fire a gun. Rap may glorify such things, but it definitely does not teach you how to do them. You can't draw a line directly from rap to murder.

I must agree that rap can have a bad influence on teens today. What is this world coming to when 10,11,12,& 13 year olds are being convicted of murder, robbery, or anything of that nature, let alone older teens. Why would parents let their kids listen to things like that? I'll tell you why most parents these days don't give a crap what their kids listen to , watch, say, see, or do. I'm not saying that all parents aren't caring for thier kids but what I am saying is that their are people out there who aren't fit to be parents. Most parents actually buy the music for their kids. Some songs aren't that bad but there are some that talk about killing their selves and all that, and parents have herd this music too. But yet they still buy it for their KIDS TO LISTEN TO! come on how stupid can you be?
