Like many others say, not all rap is bad. But then think about rock and roll. There's a lot of rock and roll artists talking about suicide and drugs and women. But then you have your good side to rock and roll. All I have to say is, anything that is reality wise will sell, good or bad. holla!!!

most of the rap artists rap about girls girls and sex. what is all this? the true rapper was tupac, he still is, he is the greatest and fans admire him for his true contribution. rappers such as nelly, p.diddy, chingy, ludacris etc etc just all sing about sex and women. Women are not only here for their bodies and sex. They are humans just like the others. What is the big deal? can't they rap about some thing else? I'm not saying that rap is bad, rap is good, but if artists want, they could actually improve on their lyrics, which won't be harming anybody, neither will it stop people from buying their records. it's still gonn be all good. sometimes raps could be bad influences, because in other types of music, artists barely sing about sex and whores and hoes, etc. life is not only about that, and teens need to learn it.

It is your decision whether or not to do the drug but the lyrics can greatly influence ones decision. I mean you may think that it is okay because this person does it (that is just an example) or any other little thing.

the magazine is both right and wrong. it is only right if the kids are dumb. i mean, if they listen to it, and it says ooo go have sex and smoke pot, and they go and do it, thats just dumb. you can listen to that music for ur own pleasure, and know enough not to do the stuff, so yeah, the magazine is both right and wrong.

I don't see anything wrong with the music genre rap it is the lyrics that most rappers are singing that is the problem. I don't think that rap causes violence and drugs it is the lyrics.

Depends on the rap. Depends on the teen. Depends on so many things it's impossible to tell. But under some circumstances, I think it COULD be a bad influence. But so can pretty much anything. I definitely wouldn't try to restric or eliminate it. Love, Jen.

I dont think rap is a bad influence. Yes they talk about subjects such as sex drugs and violence but that doesnt make you do those things. I listen to rap and i am a virgen, never done drugs, and never gotten into a fight. I am also #14 in my class out of 856 so i think it is about choices, not music. And yes i know it is a run-on.

blaming the problems of teens on music is another excuse to not really try and understand them just to point a finger and blame something or someone for it

rap is not a bad influence on teens today b/c its not directly telling them to go out and commit a crime or do drugs. Everybody has a mind of there own and if they knew how to use it, then this world would probably be a better place. Therefore, don't dis rap cuz it ain't da problem!!

I dont believe so. main-stream Rap is nothing but talking trash and degrading women. (Today's RAP)

But I think rappers like Black Eyed Peas,DMX, NAZ can be very good influences for kids. Their songs are "drug-free" and they are not violent.

The bottom line on this discussion...people have choices. They choose what music they listen to and what they put into their bodies. The music or drugs come last, their problems are what make them listen to the music or take the drugs.

Illusciato, do you have anything on mp3 yet? Let me know if you put any of your music on Kazaa or anything. I love all underground stuff. I'm big into the underground scene in DC. If you like underground hiphop, maybe we can exchange some band info or songs.

"Do you think rap is a bad influence on teens??"

No and it is really the person that can choose whether or not they do drugs.
Rap is something that is real it tells the truth about life and what the rapper had to go through to get where he or she is right now.

Many styles of music degrades females, not just rap. Don't put it all on rappers. Females have the choice not to be on a video. But they decide to anyway. And we all know that females do things that make people call them out their names. Rappers are keeping it real. They are not gonna sugar coat their feelings. If a female degrades herself (giving oral sex, prosituting, being a jerk), then they shouldn't expect people to respect them. Especially not guys. Guys will call you what you are. And many rappers describe what a whore is or what a b**** is. So if none of those degrading things describes you, then don't worry about it. But there's also music that show guys have respect for women. Like "Woman" by R.Kelly. So stop looking and listening to the negative. LOOK and Listen for postive rap music.

I understand that you dislike rap music. But let's get something clear. If you take the time to listen to the lyrics, you would understand that a rapper is painting a picture. He or she is illustrating there community and what goes on in their community. They're telling a story. They are speaking about the ups and downs or the way of life in urban communities. What they are rapping about is basically true. I know because I am from the hood. I am from Harlem. So I lived an urban or ghetto life. I know what it is to be around gangs and violence. Rappers are rapping about what it takes to survive in a drug infested area. Or what it is to make through the next day.And yes... rappers do rap about sex. If your mature enough to talk about sex or have sex, and you're mature enough to understand what a rapper is saying in their songs. Like for example; in 50 cent's song "P.I.M.P.". He says that he doesn't want a chick to give him head. He wants a chick for her bread. Yeah, rappers rap about sex. It's part of entertainment. Look at Britney Spears. Her song "I'm A Slave" is explicit. Or Missy Elliot's "Work It". She's talking about sex, but she sugar coats it.
If you have something to say, write me back.

Look shorty... I'm about hit you with the knowledge. 1ST of all your opinion on rap music being bad, sucks. But hey it's your opinion. But I think if you want to talk about music being bad...listen to these rock bands. I mean all that screaming, you can't understand a word that is being spoke. Secondly, today's rappers and black producers have indeed produced and written music for artist such as Britney Spears,Justin Timberland, and Dream. Rappers and black producers have collabrated with artists such as Madonna and Christina Aguilera. So let's not go there with rap music or hip hop music being bad. Because rap and hip hop are in your rock bands and your pop music. So get your facts straight. Rap music and hip hop music are in your favorite commericals. Rap music and hip hop music are well thought out by an artist. And their catchy beats sell their records and it expresses them. And the people who are buying these records, are helping the US economically. These rappers and hip hop music are helping the cycle of money in the US. Oh by the way, hip hop beats are in jazz and classical music. So if hip hop beats die, so does every other type of music.
Write back if you got somthing to say.

Rap is a form of poetry. Poetry doesn't have rules or a limit. Poetry is a form of expression that a person uses. Rap and poetry are the same. If you love to write or read poems then you like the similar sytle of rap.
