Question:
For those of you who don't believe in the Bible or not 100% of the Bible, let me share somethin with you. I am Christian, and tonight at church I heard two missionaries from Iran tell how they were chased out a Muslim temple because they were trying to teach about Jesus and just because they followed him. They could have been killed. They had FAITH! If you are a real Christian you know that faith is why you believe every word of the Bible. I cried tonight because never before had I seen a place where Christians were killed, and people hated Jesus and shut down his churches. The least we can do as Americans is have faith in God, and not take for granted that when we speak his name we won't be killed. If you doubt anything in the Bible, you should be ashamed. Some children in Afghanistan, the Bible is only a dream gift, they will not be able to have. I am proud to live in America, but ashamed of some of the Americans I see everyday. My poll is how much of the Bible do you believe?

Choices:
EVERY WORD 100%
90%
70%
10%-69%
NOT A WORD 0%

I believe in God.
But I don't believe everything the Bible says.
So is that something wrong or am I ok?

If it's so incredibly stupid, CornDog, don't reply.

You sound like Hitlar. You want everything your way....if somethings not "your way" it's gotta be "wrong" and that person should be "punished". ShUt Up!

Don't stoop down to his/her level. (And it's "Hitler;" misspellings bother me.)

quote:

Well, what if the tables were turned? Muslims pray in mosques, not temples (that's Judaism) and don't believe that Jesus is the son on god. Why try to force that upon them in their OWN house of worship? It's wrong. They had every right to make the missionaries leave. Would you like it if some Muslims came into your church and started preaching to you telling you that Jesus isn't the son of god and that Christianity isn't the right religion? I doubt you'd appreciate it more. It's just another example of how many Christians are hypocrites. I don't mean to generalize, but it's fairly evident, considering the circumstances.

quote:
They could have been killed. They had FAITH!

They took the chance of "invading" a mosque in a foreign country. And by the way, Muslims are generally very peaceful and don't resort to violence, because it's against their religion. The missionaries' faith should have told them to let people live the way they wish and believe what they want. They can "spread" the world of god to those who don't know of him/her/it yet.

quote:
If you are a real Christian you know that faith is why you believe every word of the Bible

I'm guessing you're referring to both the new and old testament of the bible. So if you believe it 100%, you believe that slavery is right, homosexuals should be stoned to death, not going to church should result in death, etc. Wow, sounds like a plan to me. Have fun with that one Wink

quote:
I cried tonight because never before had I seen a place where Christians were killed, and people hated Jesus and shut down his churches.

Ever hear of the Crusades? Christians set out and killed thousands upon thousands of Muslims and Jews in the name of Jesus. Christians even killed other Christians, slaughtering their animals and children and burning their villages.

quote:
If you doubt anything in the Bible, you should be ashamed

Ashamed of not believing in a book of fairy tales? You're condemning Jews and Muslims by making that blanket statement. I believe in nothing in the Bible, but I won't be ashamed because I won't blame the world for having the choice to follow a religion besides Christianity. Even though I'm an Atheist, the world, including Christians, should practice religious tolerance, instead of focusing on how others worship the -same- God.

quote:
Some children in Afghanistan, the Bible is only a dream gift, they will not be able to have.

Some children in Afghanistan need food, shelter, and clothing more than the bible. All children should be exposed to various religions so they can be the ones to decide which one is best. My opinion only, though.

quote:
I am proud to live in America, but ashamed of some of the Americans I see everyday.

Then you're ashamed of those Atheistic/Jewish/Muslim-American soldiers who are prepared to fight for YOUR right for freedom in this country? I'm ashamed that people like you can be so biased and ignorant; try growing up. Take care Big Grin

*I apologize for any crass comments. I don't intend to belittle anyone.

representative of the Bible and all its wonder. You should plan a trip to those same temples those missionaries went to and give those muslims a piece of your mind. I mean, what were they thinking!? Kicking those Christians out of their temples. I swear. This world is plain LOCO.

Hey
I totally agree with you on this subject.

for all those people who think non-christens trash there beliefs on christanity are so wrong. Because while some people are being mean and a little hurtful, others are just trying to get their point across. I for one respect all religions and believe religion is something that some people need to get on with their life, so they can feel like their is someone watching over them, and i am in no way saying that it is a bad thing. i just feel like some people choose to put their life in the hands of their religion and expect everything to be okay, but the truth is that people need to realize that they control their life, and they need to be the ones that work hard and and achieve what they want to achieve. I personally decided to take the faith and love i could have put into religion and put it into the people i surround myself with and give it to help classmates and people who i barely know have more self-confidence and a better life. I would just like to tell people who try to convince others that your religion is right to back off. ui was wondering that if it is ok to have people convert to your religion is it not ok for people of your religion to convert to another religion, even if they feel like the other religion is more real to them? I think religion is to everyone a way to cope with life, some don't need religion and live full happy lives, others need to believe they have someone to talk to and to help guide them. Each option is fine, it is whatever one that helps you the best that you should choose. Please realize thatthis post was not directed at any certain people on this site.
My motto- "To each his own." (I think it explains itself)

gooberflinch, my belief in Jesus is that he was a man who lead a religious movement , then was killed because he posed a threat to the Romans AND the Jewish kings and other leaders who reported to the Romans. Then, his apostales (I know I didn't spell that right) embellished the story when passing it on generation to generation, when the story was written down 100 years later it was completely changed (basically, holy telephone). I don't undestand exactly how it was changed to king of all Jews, blah blah blah.

P.S. Martin Luther preached that Jesus was killed by the Jews therefore, all the cruelness shown to them was justifiable. Great man.

I can't believe the stuff you say sometimes nsync. You are upset because two christians went into a muslim temple, their place of worship, and got chased out? HOw would you like it if two jews or two muslims or anyone else in the world came into your church to tried to teach you about their religion?!? The way you carry on about hell and heaven and the true religion, I don't think you'd be very happy, maybe even like those Islams. They were praying their, and those missionaries had no right to come in and preach. I am a christian too, but I respect everyone elses beliefs. And for you to blame everything on how horrible your life is going and how you have anger problems is no excuse. Don't you think everyone else might be suffering too, or more? But when everything you say is contradicted, you always say to be nice cause you have problems. Well, teling everyone their religion or beliefs is false and their going to hell isn't nice either

Well, we can't really convince anyone who's religion is right. People are gonna believe what they want. I, personally, am a Christian. I believe the bible 100%.
To all of the other christians out there... never give up your faith in the Lord! Just remember to be careful of what you say, because you might set a bad example for the unbelievers. We need to show God's love to everyone! Also, maybe this isn't the best place for discussion. I think you can only really reach people on a personal level. And, as it says in the Bible, don't waste your time on fools who will turn your religion against you, but rather instruct the wise who have an open mind to listen.
And to all those out there who don't believe in God...you don't have the right to bash our religion! I can respect that you don't want to believe, but just because someone has a different belief than you do you shouldn't shove it back in their face! It's common sense, people! If you don't want Christians making a big uproar about things, then don't start the arguments!
That's all. Have a super-duper-extra-fuzzy day! smile

1. "do you have lunch with God?"
no.
2. "...Little chats, you see him on the street, "Hey god, how you been doing lately, haven't seen you a lot since high school, huh?"
no. Yes, i do talk to Him. But no, I don't just run into him on the street and chat about high school.
3. " I mean is it just because of a big book that says that, is that why?????????????????????????????"
actually, my Bible is rather small. But if that's what you're talking about, partially, yes. I believe everything it says. HOWEVER, I didn't just read it one day and poof! I believed it. I tested it and found it to be true every time. Also, everything it says has been proven in my own life personally, so I'm not just reading because I feel like it.
4. "Or is it those guys who because they wear a collar they can tell you how to run your life?"
HAHA! no! Believe me, I am SO against all that religious mumbo jumbo that says that the preacher is better than everyone and that you can "buy" your way into heaven by living a good life! TRUE Christianity does not teach any of that. Hence, Martin Luther's 95 Theses. The church at the time was totally corrupted, and were selling indulgences for people to "get into heaven." They taught that whatever the priest says goes. Martin Luther knew that was wrong when he compared it to what the Bible says, and because he stood up it changed things forever. However, many people still have that idea of churches...that its this formal, legalistic place where the preacher is all intimidating and "tells you what to do". It's not like that.
5. "And by the by, why does Jesus love everybody??????????????????????????????????????? He's dead!"
Actually, Jesus is not dead. I know this must sound insane and like i'm one brick short of a load, but if Jesus was dead, no one would be a Christian! Who wants to live for a dead God?! Jesus was crucified, innocently, and three days later was raised from the dead. In his death he payed for every sin we'd ever do. This is a fundamental point of the Christian faith; Jesus is not dead. After he went up into heaven to be with His Father, He sent the Holy Spirit down here to take his place on earth. The Holy Spirit's job, summed up is to comfort, like Jesus did, to speak to us,like Jesus did, to heal, like Jesus did, and to encourage, like Jesus did.Why does he love everybody? Because he's God, and God is the definition of love. True love will lay down his life for a friend; Jesus did that.
6. "Why was he better than anyone else that he gets to sit on his throne and love everybody for the rest of eternity????????????????????????????????????"
Because, as I mentioned before, Jesus IS God. This will be really hard to grasp, but here goes: God is three in one (the Trinity). He's Father, Son (Jesus) and Holy Spirit, but all in the same God. Hence, in being God, only He knows how to love perfectly, completely unconditionally. No one else can do that.
7. "Did he suck up to god? Gave him an apple? Raised his hand a lot in Hebrew school?"
How can God suck up to himself? Also, why does God, who created Hebrew, need to go to Hebrew school?
8. "And don't tell me that you know god is there because you feel him, if you felt some divine presence, how do you know all about him??????????????"
If I based everything I believe on on my feelings, believe me. I would not be a Christian. Yes, I have definitely "felt God." However, that is not why I believe in Him. I believe in Him because of everything I have seen Him done in my life. He's healed three or four of my friends of cancer, COMPLETELY, that would have been life-threatening. He just recently healed my brother of tendonitis, when he was supposed to have to take medicine for weeks. My brother just prayed, and it was healed. The doctors had no idea what happened. I could go on and on and on, believe me. All that to say, I've seen proof of Him in my life, and I have no choice but to believe him. I know about Him to a degree, yes. But no one will ever completely know God. He is so big and so perfect, that we can't even begin to think we know everything about his character. However, what I do know is because I read the Bible, and I pray, and yes, he responds. Not in some weird fantasy where the room lights up, and a huge voice speaks into my life, its not like that. But, he speaks in subtle ways, like through other people, and stuff like that.
9. " Why is he a he????????????????????"
Actually, God contains characteristics of both a He and a She.
Matthew 23:37
"...How often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings...." (Jesus talking)
That's one example of how Jesus is like a mother, however,
John 8:41
"....The only Father we have is God himself..."
There's one example of how God is a father, also.
So, while God may be referred to as a "he", he does contain characteristics of both male and female. Hope no one takes this the wrong way.
10. " [confused] [confused] [confused] [confused] [confused] [confused] [confused] [confused] [confused] "
hope all that helped your confusion.

Look, I didn't want to have to say this, but do you have lunch with god? Little chats, you see him on the street, "Hey god, how you been doing lately, haven't seen you a lot since high school, huh?" No????? Really??????????? I'm surprised since you know so much about him! I mean is it just because of a big book that says that, is that why?????????????????????????????? hello to everyone....

To the non-Christians:
Believe it or not, but the God of the Bible is a loving God. He is a gentleman, and does not force anything on anyone. He gives us the freedom of choice. Whether or not you accept him is up to you. I apologize for any wrong impressions given about Christians. Jesus is NOT about killing people and sending them to hell!!!! He wants so badly to just love you. Let him love you. please.

To the Christians:
please read the above paragraph, and keep that in mind. Jesus would be showing love! He wouldn't be yelling at these people and forcing salvation down their throats! So, while I also believe that Jesus is the ONLY way to Heaven, I think there is another approach to offering what he has for his people. Instead of forcing it down their throats, try offering love!

Dear NSYNCGirl

I have seen a lot of stuff you've put on this site and sometimes I think your pretty genuine, but sometimes I feel that you are twisting your religion to the point that your using it to insult others like " God loves everyone, but if I were god I would have given up on you" now isn't that using your religion to hurt others. I think you need to start being a little more considerate to athiests, when you see it all from the sidelines, sometimes you can see the real truth about how Christians hurt others and how some Christiansmake insane claims about their religion, but sometims we can miss your message, so take a breath and explain calmly, don't throw insults at others. Plus it is terrible to hear you say that people who don't beliee 100% of the bible, well that is just the worst thing in the world. That if someone doesn't believe everything in that book that they are un-holy, not pure????????????????????????????????????????????????? Now that's twisted frown

OK , listen, Buster. I am having family troubles, and I have a gard time with anger management, so if you tick me off, I get to a point where I can't take it, and I have to burst out. God loves me and without him I could not get through my friend in Afghanistan, my issues at home, and my issues at school. I think you need to lay off. I can stand up for myself, but sometimes I do the Christian thing and turn the other cheek.
