Smart, not wise. Wisdom stays forever, intelligence does not. (PS-My IQ has been tested twice. Once when I was 12, results were 138. More recently, about a year ago, I got 144...)

I have no official test results, only what my mother and a adult friend of mine have inferred based on comparison to my sisters. It'd be interesting to really know though. Why? "You learn about equality in the classroom but you find out about it in life" - Campus Confidential www.myspace.com/yogore

YES, TESTS SHOULD BE STANDARDIZED TO GIVE MORE CHALLENGES TO YOUTHS.

Supposedly, some private schools require an IQ test in order to be accepted. As far as I know, no other need for IQ tests-and even the private school thing is a rumor.

Yes, I wouldn't know about the accuracy of that test as I have never taken a regular IQ test before...

You can't really depend on that test to be acurate. Atleast, mine was pretty far off last time I took it. Iq tests, from my experiance, are to judge what you should be able to do in school. When the school didn't want to let my sister take advanced classes (in 7th grade or something) they had an Iq test done and then let her, because she had a high enough IQ. What impact does an iq test have in the real world though? You don't get accepted to college based on it, you don't get money for it, all it is ultimately is bragging rights... Also, if you are interested in an iq test, there is one Tickle IQ test that I found that works pretty well. It is free to get your iq number and then you can pay more to get a personalized report, but that is kinda pointless.

oregon, most people can figure out the answer that the testmakers are looking for to a question like that. And juicy, that happens a lot. Tests aren't the only measure of intelegence, but they are necessary. An A her doesn't equal an A somewhere else. Test taking is an importance skill and so how you can perform on a test is an important thing for colleges to look at. Also, our traditional IQ tests are biased racially and economically. For example, one question said: Which man is dressed to go to work? a. (picture of man with overalls) b. (picture of man with a clown suit) c. (picture of man with briefcase and suit) Anyone who lives in the country/on a farm will answer a. How about the kids with a father who works in the circus? Not surprisingly, the answer is c, what the people who came up with the test usually dress in for work. Some IQ tests have been made that only certain ethnic groups can pass, as well.

I honestly think standardized tests are a poor way to measure intelligence. In my G/T (gifted and talented) class, we went through some of the scores that some of us got on the SATs and they were just crazy. Some of the smartest kids in the class got very low scores while I, with my not-so-great grades, got a pretty high score. It's a proven fact that the pressure people feel on these tests hinder their true intelligence from showing. It's ridiculous to think that you can judge someone from these kind of tests.

I hate that kind of stuff. It's pretty unfair. I mean, 50 years ago, African Americans were allowed to say, "I hate that I was born black". And somehow, they are still allowed to be society. Am I allowed to say, "I hate that I was born white"? No.

It's bull**** that colleges can do that.
Yeah, I know a girl with okay grades, but she got a full ride based ont he fact that she is Mexican...Usually those scholarships help people who may have been from worse off school districts, but she is a part of one of the best districts in our state...there is nothing wrong witht he education she has received...

Luva, I think ethnic scholorships are bull, but scholorships to poorer people I see. There's actually a board in ending the Isms to talk about scholorships [and other things] based on race.
