I have had a TON of fights with my mom about college recently. My friends who got thru this have warned me, and they are right, that senior year is the worst year of your life. I think a good start to making this year better for ppl is for parents to know some stuff from the kids about what we're going thru.
This is a starting point, I am hoping for more ppl to add stuff to this list.
1. We're flipping out too, so please quit nagging us. We're probably more concerned about what's going to happen with our future then you are and you telling me that I'm a failure isn't helping.
2. You are not going to convince me that you know more about college then my friends in college do. If someone in college tells me what college is like, I am WAY more likely to believe them then I am going to believe you.
3. You will not be able to convince me that life is that hard. B/c it isn't.
4. We don't care where you want us to go, so attempting to push us in to some school over another will do nothing. Let us pick and then support that.
More to come, but I have to think for a while. Please feel free to add. OH, and if someones parent shows up here. Please respond, I am always ready for debate.
MN debater, AIM me, I'm probably on and I'm probably bored... toughgirldb8r
