I'm doing a reasearch paper on the topic, so I just wanted to get some input on the topic. What do you think about censorship in school? Are you for it or against it, and why? I'm looking for it censorship all areas in school from what kind of clothes we can wear to the the books we read.

Also if you have any good sorces for information about the topic, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks, bye.

i totally agree with dante on this one.

no censorship.

personally i'm a futhermucking muck raker, so i say the more controversy the better. substance!!!content!! ahh. i respect when people speak their minds, and i think school should encourage just that. if you want to try and offend me, i say give it your best shot.

i love that s***. it's just too bad there's too many sensitive, overprotective, authorities who still consider the youth a bunch of babies. let it go man. free expression. treat us like adults we might act like it (probably not though). but tell me not to do something...... oh so much fun in doing it anyway.

Even in school freedom should be absolute and censorship unconstitutional.

A good place to start for this is the Student Press Law Center (http://splc.org/) which will have a lot of news and info on student's speach and press rights.
The ACLU as well will have information (http://aclu.org/) on rights, freedom, and students. (http://www.aclu.org/StudentsRights/StudentsRightsMain.cfm)

censorship is one of those grey areas in life; you have to have your own opinion in order to believe it is true. I think that, for my school at least, they aren't strict enough with the dress code and enforcing it. Girls are always wearing sleeveless shirts and guys are always wearing shirts with vulgarity of some sort displayed, whether it be in the language or in pictures. I don't believe it is the worst problem in the world right now, but I do think it is certainly an important issue we have to consider. I know I definitely wouldn't want my son going to my high school right now.

I'm kinda mixed because I happen to go to a private school, where censorship is necessary. I believe that we have the right to say what we want and how we want it, no matter how vulgar it is. But on the other hand, I don't believe (especially in the case of girls, which is ironic because I am one), that we have the right to wear what we want.
