I was wondering what other schools policies on the cost of the AP(Advanced Placement)tests are. In my school us students must pay for the test...each costing about $80.

there's no cost for the class, unless you want to buy the book. the teachers really like it when you buy the book. the school does spring some of the cost on to the student though. depending on the test, it can cost anywhere from $20 to $50. they used to make you get to the testing site yourself, but now that construction is almost over, the tests can be taken at school again.

The course itself doesn't cost anything, though you do need a approval to take the class. So the only cost (at least at my school) is for the test itself. I don't know if they offer aid for those who can't afford it at my school though.

We have those at my old high school as well and the students only pay if they need supplies for the courses they take. Usually its $40. Our school calls it a work release program like the prisons use. Go figure! Thanks Jennie2004 for the update.

AP tests cost like $65 at my school. Each test cost under $70 is all I remember, I only took one last year. The courses don't cost money though, whoever is qualified gets in the class. I think there may be a special deal for low income families who can't afford to pay for the test. Do any of you know of something like that?

I'm not sure, but I think at our school, all you need is a teacher recommendation for AP courses.

We have to pay at my school, I'm not sure on the exact amount though. Dumars- AP tests are tests you can take to gain college credit for a high school course. Many (but not all) high schools offer at least a few AP courses that are designed to teach students on a higher level and then allow them to take the test at the end of the year. The main thing is they look really good on college applications even if the college does not accept the AP credit (different schools have different requirements, and some don't accept them at all). Also, if you take a lot of AP courses during high school you could wind up getting enough college credits to take care of your first semester or something and then save money. If you have any other questions, like how the tests are set up or something, I'd be glad to answer them.

What is the advanced placement test? I have never heard of these before, if you could tell me what they are I would appreciate it.

I think ours are $60-something ... I don't mind the fact that you have to pay for them, except that it's a complete waste of money if you happen to score any lower than a 3.

Students pay for it at our school. My parents have to fork over $216 this year, $72 each for three courses.
