i am joining choir next year but dont know what kind of voice i have. i can sing some christina Aguilera, some Alicia keys, and Dear mr.president by P!nk, and some of Flyleaf and Evanescence.I cant go extremely high and my low range is limited. I can sing most show tunes like Maybe(annie) and over the rainbow(the wizard of oz) and i can sing up to the soprano part in Dirait-On. i think the lowest i cna go is like Simple plan's (Perfet) but even thats a little hard. and im NOT Mariah Carey.lol if anybody can fill me in that would be of a great help because i want to practice strenghthening my vocal range. im thinking perhaps im a mezzo-soprano but im not sure what that could also be considedered i've heared it is an alto but im not sure.

if you can sing high you'll probely be a saprono depending on exacly how high you will be a saprono 1 or 2 most women are not true sapronos or altos but messo saprono but thats probely not going to be a section in your choir. but talking about the pop songs you can sing wont really help anybody tell you your chorus voice because to sing "poppy" stuff as my chorus teacher would say and to sing choral lituature are two VERY different things if you want to shtrengthen you skills i would advise you to work on tall vowel shape(keep your mouth open with corners in), diaphram shrengthing exersizes and work on your control in your head voice also if you have trouble with your low range try strengthening your chest voice
hope i helped a little
