- Stock your mini-fridge in advance with products from Amy’s, Linda McCartney, and CedarLane, to name a few Vegetarian- (And Vegan-) friendly TV dinner companies. That way, if the Cafeteria has nothing vegetarian and edible one night, you won’t go hungry.
- Companies like Annie's have vegetarian ravioli and pastas that can be made in a microwave in two minutes for those times when you need a quick meal before class.
- If there is a local Co-op in town, join it. That way, you can get better food—and vegetarian friendly food—in the event that your stock from home runs out.
- Get to know the Cafeteria menu in advance. If your school has a vegetarian option, try them all instead of dismissing them, and learn what your Cafeteria does and does not offer, as well learn what is in the food that they serve.
- Create weird combinations. You may be surprised at how good the weirdest of combos actually taste.
- If there is little to no Vegetarian and Vegan offerings in the Cafeteria, seek out other Vegetarians (Like at the meeting of the Environmental Club) and start a petition for more food.
- Before you go to school, find a few simple recipes you can make and buy the ingredients for them. You’ll never know when they’ll come in handy.
- If you are able to get ingredients or vegetarian friendly pre-package that does not to be frozen, invest in it. There is not unlimited space in a mini-fridge—especially if you are sharing it with at least one other person—so it’s handy to have non-perishable items, such as Fantastic Foods lying around as well.
Any other suggestions/tips, please add.

So today is my first day as a vegetarian. I'm going to try it for a month. I am curious to know what it's like. I think this thread may help me, thanks for posting it, Ikki.

quote: It's kind of ironic how I live in Seattle (the birthplace of such things as freeganism and home to probably hundreds of vegetarian and vegan restaurants and shops) and wouldn't dream of become vegetarian or vegan. Heck, I don't even eat organic food. Low cost is my top priority, which means Top Ramen and McDonald's more than Odwalla and tofu. If organic and free range food was cheaper, I might eat more of it. But being the poor college student I am, I'm not about to shell out $10 for five organic apples when I can get twenty non-organic for the same price.
I know the things are slightly more expensive, and that there are tons of other cheaper, vegetarian/vegan options, but I'm not about to mention a product I've heard of but never tried. And on that note, Betty Crocker offers a few bowls that are vegetarian. I recommend the Broccoli and Cheese with rice bowl. (Though it contains egg.)

College cuisine is spartan enough without cutting out half of it. The more you know, the less you don't know.

Fruit cups! Knorr Rice Sides (Cheddar rice with broccoli and cheddar is my favorite. Great as a side, or an entire meal.)

Top Ramen
At least these ways are A: Healthier, and B: Tastier. Ramen -- with flavoring-- isn't vegetarian.

the easy way: Top Ramen
