I don't think that they act different or anything.
Preps dress in Abercrombie, Hollister, Sean
John, Ecko, that kinda thing. Punks dress in
Band Shirts like System of A Down, Puddle of
Mudd, Chevelle, all those type of Punk bands. What is the TRUE definition of Punk and Prep?

Roll EyesWell, there is really no true defination 4 punk or prep's!!!Everyone or someone is probably one of those, and probably could tell u what their defination is!UNLESS......U go in the back of the GLOSSARY!!!

I like Nirvana...but I'm no punk.

Punks are people who claim to be punks. You never hear of someone proudly proclaiming to be a prep. No, they just show it off with sweater-vests and plaid golf shorts. And popped collars, although I knew a lot of non-preps who wore their shirts like that...

I also think it's kind of funny how punks in high school dress a certain way in order to be rebellious, but when they hit college, they dress normally and join Greenpeace or something. Rebelliousness in high school is a lot different than it is in college, it would seem.

That's what people normally think, well for the punk sides at least. But to say they act stupid. That's a stupid thing to say. Being considered a punk is not just about how they dress either. Well anyway; Being considered a punk i'll tell you the typical stereotype for us.
Punks- Rebelous, folks who tend to show their opinions, emotions, thoughts more then most. A lot listen to 'hardcore' bands.. Maybe like Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Marilyn Manson, Godsmack etc. That's almost the exact thing I heard one of the kids at my school say. Oh but he did say something about us being really stupid and spoiled kids who can't learn to grow up.

Preps arn't exactly my crowd, so i'll... translate them as good as I can Razz

Preps- People who are basically High on life. And who tend to be of the athletic 'popular' type people.

(Hoping none of this offends anyone, somehow)

I was under the impression that goth was goth gone horribly wrong.

It's hard to define a punk since the genre has gotten so broad. Hardcore, Pop Punk, Goth, Emo can and is still concidered punk. And in my experience preps are ones that try hard in school. Its not that punks are dumb, they just really don't care about high school. if you talk to some of them they have some pretty deep philosophies about life

B.T.W. people are always calling me punk so i guess the shoe fits. And the bands you mentioned are more alternative rock. Punk would be more like Rancid, AFI, Sex Pistols, Antidote etc.

I was gonna say something meaniful, I was gonna say something wise, I would have said something that meant something to me, but I lost my train of thought
