Underage drinking is such a stupid thing to do. I know a lot of people who get smashed every weekend. most of them start at age 13-14. Once at a school dance two girls came drunk to one of the dances and they got suspended and all this other stuff. One of them had to have her stomach pumped cause she qwasn't throwing up. She later told me that the docoters told her she probaly would have died. I think underage drinking can mark you as someone bad early on before you become an "adult".

Perhaps teens can't drink because their brain and body is still growing and drinking stunts that. Perhaps minors can't drink, and adults can, because the government is looking out for health of minors. I don't know, those are just some crazy ideas. But if you minors want to start drinking at 15 and turn your brain to mush by 40, go ahead.

I truly am. What has our society come to where you have to drink to be accepted? Why do you people who drink lack the self-respect and self-discipline to not drink? It's pretty sad that you drink for whatever reason. There is no good reason to drink. There is no good reason to drink underage. What's so cool about getting ****-faced and looking like a total fool? All you do is screw up your body and your brain. But hey, maybe you're all doing society a big favor.

The legal drinking age is where it is because of science- not ageism. When you are young, your brain is still developing, and using not only kills brain cells (as it always will), but prevents development still to come. frown

I don't accept drinking at all,but I think it's ridiculous for drinking to be legal for adults and not minors, because alcohol influences judgement whatever your age.Drunk adults cause just as much damage!

Just going into high school, my nightlife has been rapidly accelerating for a little over a year, so now I am "breaking in" my parents, who don't approve of underage drinking.

There is always alcohol, but not everyone drinks. I love drinking, but I evaluate the situation and the dd's before drinking, so I only end up getting looted once or twice a month.
As teenagers, you all know the insecurities. When you are drunk, you can do whatever you want! You are brave! No one cares, especially when they are drunk, too. It is freeing and it feels good!

I admit, this can be dangerous. Everyone I know is very careful about who's driving and who's drinking, but the mistakes are the very scary reality. You just need to have your friends look out for you, because you are very accepting of all ideas. I may be optimistic, because endless things can happen (as in all situations), but I always have a sober ride, and I only drink with people I know.

I don't know if I approve of underage drinking, because I know that it can have serious repercussions, and isn't healthy at all. But it's so fun!

I believe anyone caught selling liquer to minors should recieve an incredibly steep fine, and anyone caught drinking and driving should as well. If our government really cared about the lives of the people in this country they would increase the penalties that must be paid for these crimes. I also believe that Parents should be punished severly for providing beer for kid's parties. If i had kids, and I found out they got drunk at a party and some adults had supplied the beer, i would be quite irate.

I don't think that underage drinking is accepted. Just because parents allow it to happen doesn't mean that they are accepting it. I think that parents just know that they did stuff like that when they were teenagers, so why shouldn't their kids be allowed to do it? I don't think that this means they think it's alright. I'm sure that they tear themselves to shreads wondering if they made the right decision. Nonetheless, they want to be the "cool parent" and let their kid "act like an adult".

I agree with you. My parents have told me that I could drink more than just a sip, although I never have. I guess it's better that they drink at home with parental supervision, although I don't know if I "promote" it. You do seem a little young. I haven't ever drank more than one little sip.
I would definitely never go to an underage drinking party. Actually, a teacher at my school for that. He went to an underage drinking party one of his students was holding. He's ridiculous!

I disagree with that statement. That's like saying that if you know your kid is going to have sex, you should just give him a condom and tell him to have a good time? No. We have laws in this country prohibiting underage drinking. And for a parent to find this acceptable is not only violating the law, but they are running the risk of teaching their children that it is ok to drink, so their will go out and drink because "their parents say it's ok" Would you give a 16 year old a cigarette and tell him to smoke it because "you'll probably do it when you're older?" No. It's the same thing. It is teaching children to teens that that kind of behavior is accpetable in our society.

although i don't support drinking at parties, some teens actually get booze from their parents. think about this: you are a parent, you know your child will be exposed to alcohol as a teen anyway, so would you rather them do it behind your back and risk driving home drunk? or let them drink (in moderation) at your home, keeping the keys? i'd obviously choose the latter. my parents allow me to drink in moderation as long as they're there and they (or a trusted adult) give me the drink. i'm not an alcoholic, i don't drink often (less than once every 3 months) and i don't go to parties where people get drunk.
it's all about how the child and parents interact about alcohol.

It is a huge problem in society and what's worse, it is accepted. I am also concerned about this. Why do people accept it.
