I'm actually going to Israel to serve in the IDF, but after my two years of service/slavery (i'm getting shot at and getting paid half of what the US army pays) then i'm applying to the Colorado School of Mines and CU Boulder! great schools, especially with an engineering degree.

I agree with you Blue. I'd rather be surrounded by people just as smart and motivated as me instead of doing amazing in comparison to those academically inferior. That's why it's okay I only have a 3.5 at my school because it's the highest ranked public school in MA. I cut out a lot of schools I was originally applying to. I'm down to 5. Ivy League schools provide excellent fin. aid. I would have gotten some fin. aid at an Ivy, whereas at Bowdoin, I am getting nothing. It's all about the endownment. I really don't think you should underestimate the education you can get at any top 20 schools (Ivies + top LACs). While I could have gone to a worse school for a lot less money, I would have been learning and essentially competing with students who were just less motivated and qualified than me. I got to do that in high school. It would have been a waste of a college experience. Instead I'm at Bowdoin surrounded by people who are extremely intelligent and motivated. If finances are not an issue, it's silly to go to an inferior school.

He had enough money. Anyway, you're right. Harvard sucks.

If his scores were that high, he was probably offered a VERY glamorous financial aid package from the school he selected. Ivy league schools don't give out much merit based $$$, and there is a good chance he would be footing the entire insane bill himself with no help from the school (unless he qualified for financial need). Finances are an issue too.

Plus, if you go to a less selective school you will be higher ranked in your class. This means you are likely to do better with less work...and that is always a huge plus.

so he goes to a school that has a high populace of members of his own faith and that makes him a doofus? and to be honest a harvard education (or an Ivy League education for that matter) is not very diffrent from the majority of provate schools nowadays, in reality it just costs more

Pharmacists make tons of money right out of school, but I don't really know how much advancement there is. I new a guy who scored a 35 on the ACTs and a 1550 (or something like that) on the SATs and Harvard begged him to apply, but he is mormon and went to BYU instead (after spending 2 years in Slovenia). What a doofus.

I'm going to major in Aviation Management with flight training to become a commecial pilot... Though I've been told I'm too screwed up to be a pilot, which may be true... I'll apply to: Embry Riddle Aeronautical University Florida Institute of Technology Lynn University Jacksonville University No matter where I go my education will cost me well over $200,000. And it's a 4 year degree.

University of Detroit Mercy It's private, smaller but not tiny. Great if you want to major in political science. (I should know... ) The price tag is enormous at $24,000 a year, but EVERY SINGLE FRESHMAN that is accepted into the University is given some form or scholarship. If you have financial need, there is a good chance your tuition will be completely taken care of.

Ok fine sorry.
The original draft of The Lord of the Rings featured Chuck Norris instead of Frodo Baggins. It was only 5 pages long, as Chuck roundhouse-kicked Sauron's ass halfway through the first chapter.

Knight I will delete your posts for being off topic if you continue. You could always double major if you can't decide, LTR. I really love chemistry. "You learn about equality in the classroom but you find out about it in life" - Campus Confidential www.myspace.com/yogore
