Concerning television, my "two cents," as it were…
Well all I have to say about television is that, for better or for worse, it cause us all, children, teenagers and adults, to emulate the various systematical
that's what you feel like when you spend a day watching tv, blah. You've wasted your life, gotten nothing accomplished, haven't even exercised your mind let alone anything else. I'll admit that I was raised being addicted to tv(did me no harm), but looking back i really would have had a better childhood away from that mind sucking machine. Now adays I view tv as that thing I wish I could make my family stop paying attention too, there's so many things they could be doing, that perhaps they will actually remember in the future.
flipping through channels really fast so that you only catch a glimpse of whats on the screen, and then trying to figure out what's the purpose of each image. you'll find that if you do this for like 2 minutes without stopping..... it really makes you think about the ridiculousness of the whole thing.......
like your in line at Mcdonalds and then your all like, "i'll have the number..2 please" then these little uniformed people prepare this food for you and it's like; to what stage have we progressed as a society. imrambling now, so try the above mentioned thing its interesting.killurtv!
Dumars :: I agree that there are some educational shows on TV. However, I was responding to the sad, sad list of shows the OP put in their post. That list was completely pop-culture crap.
And for REAL news, I go far away from American mainstream news, which is not balanced and is ripe on pro-government propoganda. Check out the multitude of independent media online ::
Well most of you feel the same way, but I dont think all tv is crap or bad look at the animal channel for instance. Children can learn about animals as well as see first hand what vet's do in order to save animals lives or how about the learning channel. I know some of it is kind of weird but most of it is very educating. Now for those of you who have regular television watch the news, where else can you find out about the world around you and the weather for tomarrow all in one half hour? Now I personally dont watch more than 5 hours of tv a week. But I still think that we can find acceptable programing on tv we just have to look for it. If you dont like tv then read a book, if you cant read then find one on tape.
I think, just for the hell for it, I'll add my voice to the damning of TV.
I do have cable, I'll admit it. but I don't watch, because what I want to watch never seems to be on. every once in a while I'll catch an episode of sealab, or the daily show. and think "haha, that was funny." there really is very little of value in that box. we are basically paying to get told how to live.
hey im new here, so. but i agree with flow and proteus, most of television is crap. they are constantly revolved around sex and violence and such. cartoons may be the exception, like the simpons. but some are too, well, you know.
I doubledogdare you to pack away your TV for one whole month. Reading your post makes me feel so sad for you - what a life, constantly watching sh.itty programs and having to choose one crappy show over another crappy show.
Could you list all of the important life-evolving decisions that watching TV has inspired in you? How has it helped you? Sitting for long periods of time immobile and feeding your brain with pop-culture pap is one of the biggest factors why America is the most OBESE and ill-informed nation in the world.
Actually, I don't love what you wrote... most TV shows out there aren't worth ****. There are a few good cartoons and a few other good shows, but for the most part networks put out crap (7th Heaven, Touched by a Leper, most sitcoms, etc). Instead of whining about how there are so many shows and so little time, just choose one or two that are actually worth watching.
