hi out there. I was wondering how you guys help from your school communities. i read some articles in here about impressive people who are just 16 and already saved a piece of world. Wonderful. I am in a United World College ( + info, http://www.uwc.org ) and i'm into the IB program, which includes community service. The whole movement is designed for people who wanna be aware and feel they sould be involved into something. So, what do you do in your schools, how do you help? any idea will be welcome and we can share them to improve the schools. ps: This school is in swaziland, so, just in case anyone thought of it, I don't think i should contact local USA big fishes.

I like to help out. I make dog cookies, collect sheets and laundry detergent and things like that for a Greyhound shelter in Mendon, and January/February is very busy for my youth group, we do a lot of homeless shelter related stuff. And for this spring/summer a couple of friends and I want to get a FLL team started to for the younger homeschoolers...but that is still in its planning stage X.x;

I just joined the SCA in my high school freshman year. During Christmastime we gave some clothes and games to some of the needy children that go to our school. We have also helped one of our teachers, Mr. Wood, (his house burnt down at the begining of last year)he had gotten a new house but had no food and hadn't moved furniture in yet. So we went to the grocery store and bought food for him and we also helped put his furniture in his new house. Right now we are planning on hosting some Bosnian students to our school for a couple of weeks and having them spend nights with some of the SCA memebers. They are coming so they can learn about what and how we learn in America and other stuff like that.

I don't do anything that really changes the wprld, but I enjoy helping out around the community.
For Christmas I went to a home that children go to if their parents beat them, or sexually abuse them. We threw them a Christmas party, and got them presents and stuff, because they weren't going to be returning home with their families for the holiday. It was really sweet, I think they really enjoyed it.
Iv'e also made a lot of visits to the senior citizens home, and I played BINGO with them and stuff.
And, I made blankets for these kids with lukemia (sorry about the spelling)
It meens a lot for me to help out around the community.
