I think the 3 was to try and restrain her carefully but it obviously only scared her more. "You learn about equality in the classroom but you find out about it in life" - Campus Confidential www.myspace.com/yogore

ok as i already said the teacher and principal cannot restrain her by law. and also having more then one cop probably stopped the girl from getting injured did you see how much she was kicking and screaming she was out of control.

That was mostly the medias fault. they focused on the fact that the kid was black. Have you noticed in the news that whites are always portrayed as the opressors? They always talk about white supremacy. Here in southern California there are just as many "brown" supremists. I think instead of reporting 5 year old BLACK girl handcuffed by 3 WHITE cops it should read: 5 year old girl handcuffed for disobedience.

You know, it's just ridiculous. Actually, on the state test, I refused to disclose my race. I marked mix. As soon as we stop thinking about what race people are, we'll stop racism. I lived around Chicago for awhile, and their so racist there, that, well for starters, I have a Scottish last name. So they think, "okay your last name is <insert last name> so that means your Scottish. Okay. You're good." It's ridiculous.

It still happens alot with college acceptance. I know the asians at my school automatically get put into harder classes. We all suspect it is to show we're not racist. Our town has one black family and 2 asian families. "You learn about equality in the classroom but you find out about it in life" - Campus Confidential www.myspace.com/yogore

I don't know. The problem today is more social than legal. For example, minorities attempt to act like ***** to show "pride", and white people want to be politically correct so they baby minorities.

Affirmative action was needed, at the beggining.

i was talking about about affirmative action thing. im still mad that if a white student has a 4.0 GPA and a black student has a 3.7 some colledges will pick the black just because he is black. but thats not what we're talking about in this thread thats what i meant about minority rights though. i was just talking about one in particular.

They do not have more rights legally; it's equal. People try to be politically correct, which is different. However, I agree on the lawsuit thing.

i think what what either celtic or yogore said was right. by giving minorities more rights you are actually hurting them more then helping. and as far as the lawsuits are, its becoming ****ing ridiculous. i mean a burgler can break into someones house break his leg and sue the person whos house he broke into. and someone can run in the middle of the street right in front of your car and you can accidently hit them and they can sue you. its complete bs.

America is driving me insane right now. With all this race crap. Blacks aren't discriminated against. She was doing something wrong, it's not their fault 3 white officers happened to show up. And students aren't even allowed to touch their teachers and vice versa. In third grade is when the hype started. We were told hugging our teacher wasn't allowed but if we did, she couldn't hug back, she just had to stand there. Everyone is way too worried about law suits. Well, I didn't tell you this before, but the teaching license my sister's getting is a secondary ed. license. That means 6th+ in some states, 7th+ in others. No touching. Even if they have a weapon, they can get in trouble. The school librarian at a local school recently got a knife pulled on her. She couldn't do anything. She had to get students to restrain this boy until she could call the police to come and get him. The police arrested him. Handcuffs and all. Wonder why a law suit hasn't come out of that one yet.

with the way this country is right now if a teacher defended himself and his life was not in danger then he would probably be fired. i mean unless the kid had a weapon im sure they would find a way to twist it around on the teacher.
