Lol all the guys are pretty much afraid of me because I am smarter and more outspoken than them. But all the guys are generally nice at my school, and anyone who isnt gets put in their place immeadiately. The honors/advanced/AP classes are dominated by girls. My teacher told me about a couple of years ago when there were like 4 guys and all the rest girls in this one Honors English class and it was just the opposite- the girls were blaming pretty much of all the worlds problems on men and their ways- a whole bunch of feminists, and the guys just kind of had to curl up in a corner and remain silent. Haha thats good stuff. In the classroom now though, at my school at least, if there is any gender bias academically I think it is towards girls. In things like PE, though, some of the teachers- particularly the football/wrestling coaches, are definately sexist and gender biased towards guys. Bushism of the day: "When a drug comes in from Canada, I wanna make sure it cures ya, not kill ya... I've got an obligation to make sure our government does everything we can to protect you. And one — my worry is that it looks like it's from Canada, and it might be from a third world." --George W. Bush, presidential debate, St. Louis, Missouri, Oct. 8, 2004

I've been there before. One day we were supposed to play flagfootball in gym class, and before we were supposed to start, our male teacher said," I change my mind, we'll play basketball instead, since football wasn't meant for girls to play." All the girls in the class got so mad that we tried to argue with him that that was sexist. Then the guys jumped into it. Anywayz...all the girls in my grade are going out for football team next year, because that teacher is the coach, and we need to prove we're just as good as the guys.

Just start speaking and taking a stand. Get into an agrument with the teacher if you have to. If you are friends with any of the girls in those classes then try to get them to speak up too. But if they don't want to than it's their choice. There is nothing those guys can do to you outside of class that they some how can get into trouble for. quote: Also, the other day in gym class, our two male gym teachers put us in teams so that girls were playing girls and guys were playing guys. When one of the girls said that was sexist, the gym teacher simply responded, "We wanted to mix you up a little."
If they wanted to mix you up a little then they would have put you with the guys.

This is my second post in here, but I've just had more thoughts about it. My guy friend pointed out to me the other day that in our soccer club, girls are allowed to play on guys teams but not vice versa. I had never thought about it before until he brought it up. Also, the other day in gym class, our two male gym teachers put us in teams so that girls were playing girls and guys were playing guys. When one of the girls said that was sexist, the gym teacher simply responded, "We wanted to mix you up a little.", which I seriously doubt was the truth.

No matter how much the female population tries, its genetic that males are going to have a better build muscle wise. However, I've found that girls develop better leg muscles, which is why they excel at sports like Soccer frequently.
Personally, I think there is kind of a push out there that guys are better than girls at sports. However, this is a two edged sword for both sexes, so I think a girl going "We have it bad!!" needs to realize it also sets a standard for the male sex.

You cant blame that all on the guys. Society sets an unfair standard that boys should be better than girls at sports and other physical activites . Its sad but true that if they lost to a team of awesome girls or beat a team of awesome girls they'd get made fun of but if it was a team of guys there would be more sympathy.

i agree with you.... in my gym class there is always a equil number of guys as girls in every group. expecialy when were playing just kickball or something in class. it pisses me off. my freshman year there was a base ball game boys vs girls and the girls won. it was a close game and most the guys struck out. it was the ones who got homers that made the difference. the boys played hard and the girls did too and in the end the girls won. afterwards the boys were all like we let you win and that your too pretty to get out. IT PISSES ME OFF!!!! well im tired and prolly going to do somemoew posts and then go to bed night guys FREE LOVE FOR ALL AMBER

i've had some problems with that too. some of my guy friends have even said things like that! when i confront them about that, they usually say they are just kidding, but sometimes i have a hard time beliving it. another place where this is an issue is in gym class/co-ed sports. gym teachers are constantly making sure there are equal numbers of boys and girls on teams. why is that? a lot of my girl friends are equal athletes to my guy friends. i know i can out-run/out-play a lot of them. just because men are biologically made to be strong than us doesn't mean they are.

ok first of all.... HI JAMAICA.. nice to see you in another room lol..... and uhhhh DA HOOD, there are guys that say crap like that... dont be ignorant. alot of men are sexist. and alot of girls get sexualy harrased. i was told last year, before everyone knew me in my new school other people's opinions on a womans place, infact it was a descussion in a class i took. about half the guys said that they would rather see a girl in the kitchen then in school getting their education being an equal person. we had to get up to a podem (Sp) and state our opinion... one guy said that a woman is not equal to men because men are stronger and smarter then any woman. in my point i said that woman are created equal and therefor should have the same rights as anyone else... i gave a nice speach... after some other people went we took a vote again and most the class including the guys said that woman are equal. i am prowd to be an woman in america becaus ii know that i am equal with the same rights as any man. if i was in any other contry, i would not be there long ebcause i woul prolly be killed for my open opinions and wanting of equality. dont take it for grantid its something we all had to work for.

Yeah, i agree with you redjill55.. I have been in this situation before and like... its so totally unfair! As if all the boys should be kings and they will rule while we girls are their slaves. I even had a heated discussion with a boy, also he is a friend of mine but sometimes i find him totally annoying. Also, the boys in our classroom feel so superior that sometimes they laugh at girls. Im also sick and tired of this.... like there is no equality at all... Boys tend to respect women only when they are in a high position, like principals or teachers but students who are girls?? they rarely respect and plus, i think most men are ego maniacs. They have this way about them like "i am right and whatever you will say will not sway my decisions or ideas". Whatever.... they are jerks... most of them anyway.

I don't think that, in all honesty, there is any way to stop guys from being sexist. I'm not a feminist, but I do believe in girls being strong for who they are and what they believe in. It is wrong just to sit and take what guys say about us, so we need to stand up for ourselves! Stand up and show that "anything a boy can do, a girl can do", more or less, and that as people, we deserve respect.
Stand up, get involved! Peace.

the reason why that happens is because we, as men, are insensitive little ****** and make jokes like that at the wrong time.

yeah that happens a lot here. i even had to save my friend from a relationship she had with a loser who thought women were slaves or keepers of thier boyfriends. While some guys are believers of this retarded saying, not all are that way... but eventhough it's only some of them who are, that's still too many.

I am sick and tired of hearing in mature little boys with there sexist comments.... about woman should stay home and cook, clean, and take care of the kids while the so called "men" go out to work to earn a living for there family.... woman are just as talented and capable to do anything a man can do.... I think woman need to stand up for themselves and not let men walk all over them....

yeah, I have seen that happen but i always stand up for myself and my fellow females. I have not, however, ever heard a teahcer join in. Once, in gym we were playing a game and i was on an all boys team. I was wide open for a pass, but the guy with the ball passed it to a guy who was being bombarded by the other team. My male teacher actually stopped the game and said " Hey! your sexist, she was wide open!"

Hell Yeah!!! I know just what you mean... I've sat in classes where guys have said sexist things, I've heard teachers encourage them, and I've even heard some girls defend themselves (and in one case i remember a guy named chris saying "Shut up... Go fix me a sandwitch" to which all the guys including the teacher laughed). Yes... it gets really annoying, even though most of them are probably j/k around... it's degrading to women!!! I grew up w/a family that believes women belong in the kitchen cooking and cleaning and so these kind of remarks really get under my skin (which is why I refuse to cook clean, wash clothes or anything like that.) There's really nothing you can do about this cause guys are going to continue saying stuff like that because they think they're funny. Oh well, my advice to you is to speak your mind when things are said and to find yourself a guy who agrees that things like cooking and cleaning aren't "women's work" I have.

I understand and can cogitate that women are fed up with many of the perspectives that men have on women. Also I can relate to the idea that men will do crude and vulgar actions that are inappropriate and something you'd see in an old Bond movie. But you also have to weigh in many other factors. Sometimes women will debate this, and then they will wear a string across their chest exposing all the clevage possible without making it illegal and a pinched up skirt where you can see most of the butt hanging out there like Jennifer Lopez often does. The way you show your body shows how you respect yourself. If you start wearing attire like that, expect the expected such as the cat calls and inappropriate gestures. Their's also being too feminist as their is being too masculine. Sometimes I'm bombarded by women who are just flat out sexist. They'll deject the male race saying we disrespect women and they will throw out the profanities and insinuations, and they don't understand how hypocritical that is!!! I agree that sexism is a horrible thing, but sometimes the catylist to it often is derived from what women will do. Just to reflect on that.
