Many have said that people like Marilyn Manson and other heavy metal artists have been part of the reason for some of the teen shootings that have occured. Do you think this is true or not? (Be nice, I'm a heavy metal supporter myself!)

Heavy metal is cool. And not all of it is bad, and depressing. Metallica is pretty good. I mean that stuff doesn't make me more depressed. It makes me happier because before i know it, i'll be moshing for hours and forget what i'm angry about.

Man, if you guys are depressed and think life sucks, don't listen to heavy metal. Listen to Bright Eyes. Even the most bubbly-over energetic people I know want to kill themselves after listening to only a few songs.

First let me say that you're replies are really good. One because they're right, and two because I love heavy metal. Those who are ill-willed, are easilly influenced by what some call "hate" music. Music is not always purposely made to enrage children and teenagers. Especially in the way of bearing arms in school.
Oh well, some just don't understand the ways of music. I might be one of them.

My death metal PREVENTS me from shooting up a school. It helps with my stress. It helps to know that someone else is having a hell of a time like me, so I restrain myself from beating the sh*t outta ppl at my school.
much luv

No question it encourages some people - more than likely, weak-willed people, or people that are complete infatuated with a particular artist or culture - to do things like that. Personally, I don't think music is as dangerous an influence as movies, TV, or some video games, since those are usually more stimulating and graphic. OTOH, some could argue that music leaves more to the imagination.

Nope, all of that is just an excuse to say see its not our faults we know what kids think its just the music. These kids taht did the shootings had these feelings for a long time and just chose to listen to music that said some hateful things as a result. Think about it when your sad do you listen to sad music?
