My state is in the poorcess of deciding whether to allow soda machines in schools, because of the rising rate of obesity and other health issues. What do you guys think?
Lots of love, Lynne

Pop is terrible. It's why people are fat and diabetic and unhealthy. Drink water or juice, morons, it's good enough!!!

I dont relle c a problem with kids buying soda. Its when its all that their going to have for lunch that I find a problem with. I think Schools should make their food more apealing and better tasting to us, because otherwise u cant blame us for just getting a soda for lunch.

Why do they want to take away our soda. Sometimes the school does the weirdest things. Aren't school making a profit from the soda company that they sponsor for?

if all these people are sayin that drugs are fine then im thinkin that soda in schools are to. everyone says that with drugs you can use them cuz its your body do what u want with it (which i dont agree with) but soda in schools i do think that kids should be allowed to have sodas while in school. there are no major side effects and nothing bad can happen with it so what is the point of keeping it away from us

i think its cool to sell water milk and even juice in schools, but thats it. kids in the US especially are frighteningly fat, theres no reason for a school to be promoting poor eating and health choices. if they can insist on PE courses they can keep junk food out of school. if the kid really wanted or needed sweets, soda or coffee they could always bring it or go buy it. this just made me laugh: quote: I really need the sugar to keep me going. It's not like I'm dependent on it
need = dependancy oh well

That vending machine in my school is all I have! Some parts are soda, some lemonade, some water, and some gatorade. Vending machines aren't turned on until 1:30 (my school gets out at 2:55). I know how many days that a soda has kept me awake through double classes of chemistry. Plus, on days when I have sports, I really need the sugar to keep me going. It's not like I'm dependent on it. It's there if I need it and I don't know what I would do if it wasn't there. I would be so dehydrated at sports that I'm so grateful for my vending machine.

My school just turns off the pop machines during school hours.They moved the candy machine to where the pool is.But ppl still get pop and go to the candy machine since we know where it is.They put in juice machines(like dole)and they got the fruit works and gatorade(sp?)machines.

In the long-run, I believe we control our own actions. Of course, the machines are there so that the companies can make money. But sometimes we have to resist temptation. I did. I use to but something sweet from school everyday. Then I realized how much money I could save by not doing that. I had about $25 saved in one month! If I can do it, you can too!!!!

My school has lots of pop machines. They could care less about our weight if they're getting money. I like having pop in school. (Oh..I'm from Michigan. I never even heard of Soda till like 3rd grade. We call it pop.)
