Pretty much the title says it all: What is the right age for a guy to pop the marriage question to a girl among younger couples? Or a girl to maybe even pop the question to a guy? Would that hurt the guy's image if she asked first?

In some places, couples get hitched when their 14.
In Nepal, men marry dogs for good luck. This really really old guy was sick with some disease so he married a dog for luck. But three days after they got married, he died in his sleep.

quote: I'm sixteen and engaged...
Thats odd, I was almost certain that there was a law that said you can't legally get married until your 18. Oh, wait, are you going to wait two years to get married? -Nicole

My boyfriend officially popped the question a year ago and I said yes. But we'd been dating a year already. Does that help answer your question?

i dont think theres a right age to do this kind of things. but i do believe theres a right TIME to do them, u know the right time as a couple, when theres trust, when theres enough independence and of course when theres love and willingness to comit, as for the girl image thing ask some guys, ive heard some like girls who take the lead and other like it the oldfashioned way well byeee

I don't really think that there is a right age. As long as you're certain that you're in love with them, I see no constraint that age could place on emotion.

I personally, don't believe there is an age limit on love, therefore I'm not too crazy about an age limit on marriage. However, statistics show that the younger you marry the higher the chances are that you will divorce. I think marriage is a great thing, but I also believe it shouldn't be rushed! Teens have their whole lives ahead of them...why worry about marriage and everything that comes along with it when you are so young. Live your own life for a while have fun, find a job that interests you then once you have it all outta your system settle down, I think that way you can really enjoy the "family life". Marriage shouldn't be something that people are forced to look for or do at any particular time!

Well, I don't believe any age is really unappropriate to pop the question as long as you, yourself know what you're getting into and are sure of yourself. Not to mention, most people don't get married right away. You could be engaged at an early age and not get married until your of legal age. I don't see why a girl asking would hurt a guys image. But what i'm wondering is, his image in front of who? I mean, if he really loves the girl it shouldn't. Hell, it'd take the pressure off him! By the way, onelove, that's great about that couple you wrote about!

i think that its perfectly normal for the girl to pop the question, society makes it seem as though its not good for the guys image if the girl asks him to marry her. if theres love and trust and honesty, then it doesnt matter what age you two are. i know of a couple who are only 16 and are in love and the girl popped the question and the it made the guy really happy and he said yes, so now they're engaged!!!!!lovely.. onelove

first of all, of course a girl can ask a guy, that's how many marriages i know of started. there's no right age, because it all depends on how secure you are, (ie money, job etc) and your maturity and your love and whether or not the other person is ready.

you can just say when other people can or cant do something but let them decide when they are ready themselves. Though statistically people that get married after 20 something (sry cant remember #) are less likely to get divorced, each person is an individual.
