Do you think teachers at your school favor any particular group of students (ex: preps)? I'll tell you I am sick and tired of everyone being nice to the preps at my school. We had a dress code.... when you bend over, your shirts can't show any lower back or tummy. Shorts had to be finger length. When anyone OTHER than a prep disobeyed they dress code, they got Saturday school. Of course the preps never got caught. And it wasn't ONLY the dress code. The gum rule, the hugging rule (THAT was stupid), etc. We seriously need to do something about this.
StormFaerie, like I said before, it is a good idea not to use labels. Labels are too broad and general to judge people accurately, not to mention everyone has a different idea of what means what. I have told you what "preps" and "punks" are in my eyes. You have told me what they are in yours. Thus, inaccurate.
That's not true Xia. "Preps" are the popular kids that make themselves what they think everyone else wants them to be. "Goody-two-shoes" are the kids that always have their homework done on time and are always polite to the teacher. "Punks" are the opposite of preps. They are who they want to be and don't care what other people think. "Wanna-bes" are the ones that always try to be cool and fail.
At my school, different teachers favor different students. I think the best teachers are the ones who treat everyone eaqually, and treat everyone the same way.
Some of my teachers favor the preps, most just wait for them to come late to class everyday, so they can give them after school detention.
I'm favored by one of my teachers because I have the highest grade point average in the class. I guess I should be flattered by that, or hornored or something, but I think it's kind of rude that I get all the attention in the class, and she gives no one else in the class a chance to learn.
I am good friends with more than one of my teachers, and just like us normal kids, they don't like the preps either. Now I can say that usually, the administartion doesn't carry out the rules when it comes to preps....like the shorts thing. I honestly think the principal is scared of the preps....If teachers favor any group, it would be the smart kids and the ones who always get their homework done. If you respect the teachers, they'll respect you.
Of course "preps" are favored; it is because they do their homework and are courteous to the teachers. Teachers generally do not like the rude students who do not do their homework, disrupt class, dress like skanks, etc.
Besides, teachers are only human, as someone else mentioned.
Also, you should not use stupid labels like "preps" and "punks." "Prep" applies to any smart student who does their homework (like any smart child should). "Punk" refers to anyone who tries to be "cool" and fails miserably (which is 99% of all children who try to be "cool").
ur right there is favoritism. i plersonally am quite a prep myself, and kinda a teacher's pet so i know for a fact that i get away with more crap than other kids. honestly i do go to a preppy school where just about everyone is a prep, and the kids that aren't don't get away with anything, and it's not fair. if one student can get away with somethin, the other one should too.
YES! it's not so much at my school, but def at my church, with my friend. our youth leaders barely pay attentoin to us anymore, the focus is all on her. but talking ot them doesn't work, at least not for me and my friends who totally agree wiht me, they (our youth leaders) just got all pi**ed off at me and some of my other friends
What are preps? I'm English! Anyway… I don't know whether teachers really favour certain students in my school… they punish bad behaviour pretty equally as far as I've seen. Mind you there was one teacher who really picked on one student in particular in my class, he just decided he didn't like him and it ended up with the student changing classes because they couldn't get along. That was the only teacher who showed discrimination/favouritism though (he pretty much hated everyone, but this boy even more than usual). We don't have such a big dress code issue due to wonderful British school uniforms. Woopee. Actually, how do you guys feel about school uniforms? I mean, do you think they'd be a good idea and reduce bullying of people without the coolest clothes, or do you think it's way better without them? I mean, they're not that interesting, but I do feel less worried about my image when there's a dress code like that, and there seems to be much less cliques and labelling in English schools (I'm just judging by what people have said on these boards though).
If Teachers ever acted like students it was only in way that is completely comfortable for the students. If they ever did act like kids I suggest you request them help.
In our school, the teachers always go a little easier on the preps, because they think of them as the good little people. But really, some of them are the rudest, most evil people you could ever hope not to meet. A bunch of the preps, though, are really nice people, and I'm friends with them. I don't dress like a prep though, and I'm a nice enough person, but the teachers still favor them.
i kinda think that they do. i am not a prep or a punk...im a jock b/c i play sports. i dress fine, but sum teachers let the football players and cheerleaders get away with some ppl. the punks always get bad reps, but my BEST FRIENDis a punk. i think is shouldnt matter as long as u follow the rule! -HOTTSHOTT15
yes, my teachers always let the preps and more popular students get away with practically everything. but i can't really complain to much since i know some of my clothes don't meet requirements of my school
Teachers are only human, so it's natural for them to have favorites, but it's definitely not fair that they won't punish the preps for breaking a rule. Still, I almost understand where they're coming from - who would you rather give a second chance to, a straight A student or a known pothead? It still bites a ss though
I totally agree with u I think some teachers favor some student more then other students. like my teacher she favors. the girls more the the boys. and it really sucks,
