You could always check out U of Detroit Mercy...it's not as scary of an area as you would think... Also, St. Louis University is Jesuit and very good as far as I've heard... Aside from Sister Beth, who I did my orientation community service with, I haven't come into contact with any nuns at my school...weird...

My Aunt is a nun so I think I'm well prepped for dealing with the nuns at a jesuit school (and my aunt is a radical so it should be really easy compared to dealing with her) I'm also thinking about Boston College and Santa Clara in Cali (yes more Jesuit schools)

Of course it counts! yah! Jesuit schools rock! Except when you have to take religion classes taught by ex-nuns...ha, that one was interesting.

Good school. 2 of my friends are going there too. It's gotten quite selective. Personally, I'd never want to go to school in Worcester, though.

Jeez other people who have survived the jesuit mail storm! (I can't open my mail box without getting mail from a jesuit school though I haven't gotten one from Holy Cross yet and I'd like to go to school at Holy cross)

Haha! Yeah, most of my profs are really good about keeping their politics out of the classroom...it was just that one...

John Carroll University...unless your from Ohio you've probably never heard of it. But it's a smaller, Jesuit college in Cleveland. I definetly like it for the most part. But I do know what you mean Celtic, as far as profs go. My professor for FYS (a stupid freshman seminar class you have to take your first year, meaning it should be an easy A) I was convinced she was evil. Her name was Cyrilla and she would measure our papers with rulers to make sure the margins were correct and expect every single person in the class to participate at least 7 times a day (which was physically impossible)...Anyway, I got a C in that class and everytime I see her on campus I wanna punch her in the face...lol sorry, I'm getting infuriated right now just thinking about that evil bitch. But yeah, anyway, I get alot of profs who are complete dicks and then I get a few that are brilliant. It really depends. It's good to find out from other people who to take. And as far as the political agenda goes...Every prof I've had, has had a liberal agenda and about 90% of them have no qualms about voicing how much they despise Bush. I don't know of any that have unique or great history programs, but just look for a school that focuses on liberal arts and they should take better care of their history majors than the math/science/business schools.

Does any one know a good school for a History degree?

Celtic, I feel bad for you. Most of my professors are nice, and almost none are nearly that bad. I don't know about you guys, but I go to a school where we not only need so many credits for each major, but also different level-ed classes. For example, for an English major you need 14 credits (BTW, that's 14 CLASSES in other schools. 1 class/course=1credit) and 2 need to be specifics, then 4 need to be 200 or higher *the higher the number, the tougher* and at least 8 need to be 100 or higher and the other 6 are elective. I know this sounds confusing, it really is. And that's why it's so hard to make course selections - one course can make you or break you...

At my school, almost all of the liberal arts classes are maxed out at 40 (20 for honors classes), so it really lets you get one-on-one attention if you need it. The professors are all great (well except for my honors intro to philosophy prof...he's got a political agenda...)...I really like my school...

What college are you in, Hollie? In my old school (as in, the year before last year), our tests were made by college professors, and supposedly it was college-level difficulty. All I can say is, college professors here are assholes. They're not nice and totally never willing to help anyone out. I know we're no longer in HS, but still, even if your mother died, that's still no excuse here.

hmmm...yea, you do have a good point Meagan. Maybe if I didn't procrastinate as much I wouldn't always find myself in so much trouble. Haha...there you go, that's the true difference between high school and college. It's easier to procrastinate in high school and get away with it than it is in college. I've had to pull way too many all-nighters in the past two years than I would have liked. It's just so hard getting yourself motivated for 15 page research papers though when you have a whole month before its due. And, yeah, communicating to your teachers is alot more important in college. If I had advice for soon-to-be college freshman: Get to know your profs well on a friendly level. Ask what they are looking for in their papers and go to them during office hours...they love that. Shows them you care, and it can mean the difference between an A and a B.

Yeah, aside from my two honors classes first semester, college has been way easier than HS. It is so much easier to balance my time because my profs give us assignment due dates on the first day of class. It's not like I put stuff off only to have a billion more homework assignments come my way, as always ended up the case before. Also, through e-mail and regular office hours, it is SO much easier to get questions answered... Plus it probably helps that I get to focus all of my efforts on liberal arts instead of math/science because of said AP classes in HS...
