Hey Everybody, I have a question, is it just me or is school adding more stress than it ever has before? I mean, I'm depressed, I'm so stressed out over assignments, HW, everything. I stay up till 12 doing HW every night... And the finals are so hard! I have Anxiety attacks. All they do is push on you more and more, and critize you if your worng. Giving out HUGE assignments that are do the next day? Is this really fair? Or, am I crazy? -DWR
The schools are so stupid!! I mean, I personally know about twenty kids who could've finished years ago- had the system let them! My math teacher taught us algebra first quarter, gave us a final. The average grade was fifty, because the few kids who didn't fail got A's and B+es. Those of us who understand what the teachers are saying are bored in school- they explain the same concept for a week, and don't let those of us who understood it in the first five minutes work on the projects due Monday on what she's trying to explain. Then, if they notice we're not paying attention or bored out of our minds our grades go down even though we do better work than others. I'm on the verge of D's in 2 subjects (and my parents won't accept C's!!) because they explain it fifty times before letting us do anything, then pick apart everything they did and explain it again... and again... and AGAIN!!!! if the teachers could personalize the system more for each student there'd be a lot less dropouts and people would graduate about three years ahead of schedule. Instead they load on us bookreports with 4-page long lists of requirements (INCLUDING that there's only 5-6 paragraphs), give us science projects and tests on things those people who pay attention have known for months!! AND WE STILL HAVE TO STUDY!!!! I, personnally, am sick of it.
They put so much stress on us because they want to prepare us for the time when we are out of school and we have to face the world alone. But I do feel that they pressure us about the same stuff year in and year out. I find it ridiculous. 13 years and nothing in return but a diploma. Personally I can say that I could've finished 13 years of education in a mere 5 years. The education system wastes a lot of time... they need to cut to the chase.
well i think school is really adding alot of stress to me.sometimes just give out alot of assignment to do .most of the time i don't sleep till around 1a.m which is bad.well it is for sometime i always tell myself because i pray one day to stand out with my certificate as a graduate and will not regret going to school.
YESSSSSS IT IS, SCHOOL PUTS ALOT OF STRESS ON US!!! SOMETIMES THEY NEED TO KICK BACK WITH SOME OF THEIR LIL RULES ITS LIKE COME ON NOW WERE ONLY HUMAN WE MAKE MISTAKES!!!!!! PLUSE SOMETIMES THE TEACHERS NEED TO STOP AND RELIZE ALL TOGETHER WE HAVE 7 CALSSES OR SOMETIMES 8 SO KICK BACK WITH THE HOMEWORK!!!!!
Yes I think it is. I am afraid to go to school. I am an Apostlic Pentecostal and I get harrassed because of my religion. I know it isn't right but it doesn't stop it. I have moved to so many different schools I've lost count. I never know if I am going to be beat up or have rumors spread about me. It isn't easy going to school in the first place but to add the stress of harrasment it is a lot harder.
school adds alot of stress...with all the deadlines of projects and essays and whatnot that you have to meet...you're constantly on the go worrying about whether or not you did something correctly..
You know, I'm fine with reports and what not. But when they keep ADDING it on. Like 9 reports at the SAME time, due on the SAME day and they only give you ONE day to work on. That's what ticks me off. I have 9 classes... God. That's A LOT OF STRESS! -Sunset
You people who say that school's not hard...are you kidding me?
I have 7 classes a day -- 7 hours (25 for lunch, where I do more homework) plus French Club, Soccer, P&R Soccer, P&R Refereeing, People to People classes, Girl Scouts, 4H, CRRL Volunteering, and Homework...I'm usually up until about 11 doing homework...and that's on the days when I don't have any of that other stuff. It may have to do with the fact that my IQ is 5 points short of genius, so I'm in honors classes...did anyone ever think maybe I don't WANT to live up to my full potential in everything?
"Smoking weed gives me a break from my incessant schoolwork. Besides, it's not like it takes me 30 minutes to light a joint, so I'm not using too much homework time."--paraphrase of a marijuana-using friend when told drugs would screw up his grades. While this is true, pot results in a work ethic not conducive to getting it done well. So does complaining.
Posting here gives me a break from my incessant work, and it allows me to get rid of some stress. Besides, it's not like it takes me 30 minutes to type, so it doesn't take too long to post.
I really thought about this question and read a lot of the replys. There is something I would like everyone to think about. SCHOOL IS VERY STRESSFULL - BUT SO IS LIFE AFTER SCHOOL! Think about all of the opportunities we are being given. I go to school 8 hrs - no study hall - 8 classes - I play tennis, I'm a cheerleader, I have a job - I get up and go to the gym before school I have activities after school then I go to work - and somehow find the time to get my homework done. I also need time for my friends, boyfriend and family. But I'm grateful for every aspect of my life. Some teachers suck - its true - but all it takes is one to impact your life forever. They give us these opportunities to prepare us for the world ahead of us - not to make us mad or deprive us of time with our friends. I HAVE ONE TIP FOR EVERYONE AND THEN I'LL GO - you have to believe in yourself that you can handle all the challenges in life but you also have to know your limits - if that means quitting your job for the summer to have down time or turning in a less than perfect report because you went out with you friends - so what - LIVE YOUR LIFE - BE YOUR BEST!
Well, I was printing it out at the time (my report) which took 5 minutes. So instead of just waiting I decided to come on YN. It's only took me 1 minute to post. And I finished on time thank you. It's nice to vent a little. Made me feel batter anyhow. -Sunset
You all obviously aren't that worried about not having enough time to do your HW, other activities, and sleep if you have time to waste posting complaints about all of it on a website.
I totally agree about school causing to much stress. They keep you at school for like 8 hours a day then they want to send you home with another 8 hours of work!! They know that some students just won't not do the work... so they pile it on and keep giving us more and more. Each teacher acts like that's the only class you have. They're constantly pressuring you about test scores and that. It's so unfair how they can dictate about every momment of our life!!!
