With Ipod's and Downloading, do you think the cd is beginning to die?
I have seen it happening, the Walmart I buy most of my cd's from has been taking away from it's CD aisles and giving more space for the DVD's
A lot of Record stores and CD stores have been closing down because they can't compete with the online stores like Amazon.com, or online download music stores like Itunes.

But what do you think of this?
I don't believe I will switch over to downloading and stuff, I'm a part of the cd generation and always will be.
I like the quietness of being in a cd aisle or store and just being surronded by cd's not knowing what I want to find. I think the problem is we are such a fast paced society that we forget the specialness of looking for hours in a cd store looking for a cd that we want.
I think it's a specialness in that, and I think we should go back to that

I think the eventual death of the CD is inevitable (and it has already begun), but what worries me a lot more than the death of the CD is the death of the album. Artists put a lot of work into arranging their songs just so, and many include broader, underlying, album-long themes. These days, it seems like most of my friends just hop on iTunes and download singles. If things reach a point where artists release their work song by song rather than album by album, I will be a sad panda.

I'll miss the actual CDs too (I miss them already, in fact). There really is something to be said for that feeling of being in a music store that you described. But, alas, I am already part of the problem...
