I want to know what everyone thinks or Simon Cowell (one of the judges in American Idol), ive heard so many people talk about how mean he is and everything, but that is not at all what i think of him. i think he's funny and all the people he gives thoose insults 2, well... they kind of deserve it, i mean if you cant freaking sing then dont go there! i wouldnt be caught dead there because simon would probbably say something like " your so bad you make a dog singing sound good". and i would frankly just have to agre with him. but i want 2 know what you guys think!!

Simon was my fave judge. (I say was for 2 reasons: 1. After Clay lost, I vowed never to watch American Idol again. and 2. He's apparently leaving the show.) He was my fave because he always told the truth. Honesty is v. important!

Yaknow.....I don't love him, and I don't always agree with him, but he is what keeps you watching the show. I was watching Fame yesterday...and I finally realized why I didn't like it....It was because there was no mean judges...they are all super-friendly. So....Thank's simon!!! I love you!

Simon Cowell is exactly what American Idol needs more of. If all 3 judges were like Paula right now, that would be like encouraging a a donkey to squeal on TV while he has a cold(i.e. encouraging people who know that they aren't good at singing to try it because they know the judges will like her and they will get on tv for at least a little bit). also, paula is WAYYYYY too nice. I hate her when shes like that, and one MAD TV episode had a little american idol skit and both original hosts were there, along with randy jackson and paula, and paula's lines were filled with praise, and her saying "I love you. I love you too, simon. I love everybody." Hilarious.
You may think Simon is mean to your favourite singer when judging, but think about it. He doesn't have the same favourite you do, and deep down you know that your favourite sung awful, so what makes you think he'll be nice to your fav, which didn't give a good performance? Think about that.

I LOVE SIMON! he's great... he'll tell the person exactly what he thinks, i totally respect that. kudos simon!
(by the way, probably if i ever tried out for american idol and simon said i sang worse than the "like a virgin" guy, then i'd probably be like "well yeah up yours." but i'd still respect his opinion. he knows his stuff.)

I hate reality television. Simon Cowell is a horrible judge. How can people find it entertaining to see people's dreams burned into ash by that moron? Many of these people -can- sing, yet are publically embarassed instead of having someone tell them what types of improvements they could make to better their singing abilities. I'm not in favor of watching talented individuals who actually have the courage to go on national television be demeaned like they are.

*shudders* Randy... don't care for that dude much either.
Simon's awesome though. Very British. Very crisp and true. Cool dude.
Comment on American Idol: As we all know, this show is for America to pick the best "talent", "superstar", yada yada yada. Do they give a fair chance to the contestants sharing some of their stories during the auditions and not others? Also only showing one side of the fights or confrontations? For example, Kimberly (Locke, was it?) was basically the total package of the American idol, very talented, unique voice, good performing skills, and looks. Julia has a nice voice but she didn't faze me much her performance. But the week before, during the audition process they showed a confrontation between Kimberly and Julia, making Julia the "innocent victim". When we don't know the whole story, making Kimberly seem snotty. Is that really fair to her or the rest of the contestants that didn't get shown that much?
just had to vent a little.

Frankly, I think, especially now, people know what they're getting themselves into when it comes to American Idol.

Simon is way still way too nice to these people I think. I know you people will say, "oh he's so mean" and "oh he didn't have to be so harsh", but thats what you have to do if you want to find the most suitable Idol. I agree with almost every comment Simon makes because, in the face of the obvious, its true. Paula is waay too nice to these people. She and everyone else knows that some of these people can't sing but she doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings, how stupid you're supposed to weed out the no-talent ones. As for Randy, I don't like him one bit. He is very rude, in a beating around the bush, kinda way. Eye-rolling and deep-sighing is not necessary. If they're not good, say it to they're faces. Why contort your face in a grimace when its easier to say "You stink". *Star*

i like simon. while some of the stuff he says is cruel, it can also be funny. paula is way too nice, and comes up with some really dumb compliments. randy is boring. but simon is creative with his judging. he's how the show weeds out it's good and bad stars.

I think Simon is probably the most level-headed of the judges. I notice a lot of people are quick to attack him for his remarks, but so be it. I've seen him try to kindly ask some of these people to leave after they were given the so-called 'verdict' of their audition, and what did they do? They wanted to fight him. They wanted to mouth off. They wanted to disrespect not only him, but both of the other judges, and if that's how you're going to act if you don't get the job, then you shouldn't be there. If you gave everyone credit for trying, everyone would be a singer. There is such a thing as humility you know. I think if you're expecting a pat-on-the-back for "trying" you shouldn't even be there. It's the same as a job interview. You go in, you show them what you can and cannot do, and if you cannot fulfill the job, you do not get the job. This is a job. Not a game these people are getting into. If they can fulfill this job, all the more power to them. If they cannot, they are simply going to have to deal with the fact they are not right for that job. Anyways, besides that, why not bring up the other two judges? Let's see, Paula thinks everyone can sing, and Randy is very discriminative in his voting. Randy suddenly seems to want to take Simon's place with some of the remarks he made. Simon might be more forward about it, but that Randy is no better. The sighing, the rolling of the eyes, etc. and whatnot. That's just as 'hurtful' of these participant's dreams as a rude remark. If you're going to complain about Simon, please, don't ignore the fact that Randy is rude in a round-about-way.

I think its sick how people want to watch other people's dreams get smashed, and think its funny. Actually, I think all so-called "reality TV" is messed up, so... Maybe some would be willing to pick themselves up and try again even after Cowell's sadistic comments, but most would probably be so hurt that they'd learn to not try at anything. You also have to be careful about who you insult these days: anyone ever see "The Fisher King"?
