When Eminem ( i really hate his music) won that grammy award... (i forgot what year), it shocked me, even my parents.... I mean, in that show, there were lots of deserving singers to be awarded, and yet, EMINEM won... I really shook my head at that. It just shows a lot of teens have no good taste at all for good music.

Did it disgust you other rappers win and why is eminem singled out DMX's Grand Champ album was WAY more homophobic profanity stricken and violent then ANY eminem record but i didnt see 1 picket sign go up for it why is that? its because eminem is white and can be singled out more by the media if anyone questioned DMX(he is a very talented artist and i am a fan)the whole racial issue would come up

Maxno, Usher is really good and he is also really hot, although he can't compare to Orlando Bloom.

Hey.... Eminem is a GOOD rapper, whether you like his lyrics or not. I don't either, I think most of them are stupid, but he can rap.

Personally the only thing I truly dispise about music is that people don't use it for expression, but for money. Preteens are wailing about the love they have never been in, wannabees are playing up the street life they never lived, and People are yelling about pain they've never felt. All to sell records.
Wouldn't you make records to make millions of dollars and change your life forever? They may not have written the song but maybe they can connect to it at some level.

Music is supposed to be an expressive thing. If someone wants to sing about how many ppl they slept w/ the night before, they can, even if it isn't an 'appropriate' topic.

Personally the only thing I truly dispise about music is that people don't use it for expression, but for money. Preteens are wailing about the love they have never been in, wannabees are playing up the street life they never lived, and People are yelling about pain they've never felt. All to sell records.

If someone sings what they know and have experienced, and their true thoughts on the subjects, then wether it's apppropriate or not it is self expression, which you may or may not agree with. However, when you make junk up it loses that artistic expression and becomes an empty, unjustified influence on the public. The point to it then is the overall sound, but the lyrics can be taken seriously when they aren't even real at all.

"I smoke two joints in the morning, I smoke two joints at night. i smoke to joints in the afternoon, it makes me feel all right.
I smoke two joints in time of peace, and two in time of war. I smoke two joints before I smoke two joints, and then I smoke two more."
-Lyrics to a song, which isn't rap.

My point: You're going to find songs you don't agree with, or think are innappropriate in a variety of genres, but it's ridiculous to classify an entire genre of music the way the starter of this topic has done.

What if what you think is great, really is great, but it's not as great as something greater?

letzBloud has a point...it is artistic expression..what the singer wants to talk about is their choice. if you dont like the music, dont listen to it...but dont decide for the rest of the world that the music is bad for all the little peoples ears....it should be up to a kids parents and up to them if they wanna listen to the music...not some stranger halfway across the country or in D.C.

Rap is just like every other genre of music, there is some good stuff and stuff bad stuff. And those topics aren't negative to some people. Rappers sing about alot of different topics. Not just sex, love, and drugs.
As i said before you don't like that type of music don't listen to it.

I am half-hearted on this situation. while some rap artists do rap about inappropriate stuff, like snoop dog's "drop it like it's hot". but many don't. usher's songs that i've heard, all mostly clean, and don't need to be edited. i like some, not others. all types of music have stuff bad in them. even jessica simoson's "sweetest sin" is talking about sex-just not as straightforward.
