personally, i like rap... and sure there r sum things in there that aren't the best...but what type of music doesn't have things that r inaproprate.. i mean rly... and not all rap is bad...a lot of it is ppl's feelings and @ least they r not like expressing it is a worse way...
WOW I missed alot of things that was said here. Freedom, You didn't sound like you were 60 years old. It's good that you want to be a good parent, and I'm sure you will be Rap words may have some foul words in it but most of the time you really have to listen carefully to it. Stuff that plays on the radio even edits-out the bad stuff. People just need to deal with some things, that aren't really that bad. Everyone just assumes it is.

Rap music has its ups and downs. sometimes it is "clean" and something you can relate to and other times you cant even understand what the rap artists is tryin to say because the rado blepps out every other word. i like all types of music, but rap isnt at the top of the list because of the messages most rap stars like to rap anout. i not tryin to sound feminist or anything but how many girls you sleep with or take advantage of is nothing to be proud of and its not something i want to hear or would call music.
Yeah, I kind of like BEP. My brother doesn't and so I told him my mom why (when she asked him why)- "Because they don't rap about killing, raping and they don't swear enough, mom." She laughed at that one. But it was probably true-my brother is psycho.
some rap is actually pretty good,Black eyed peas: "where is the love" and there is a Linkin Park song the talk about science. Not all rap is bad and half the time you can't pick out the swears anyways. I don't exactly hate rap, but it isn't my favorite genre of music. It isn't all bad though. If you think the music has a bad influence on you, just don't listen to it.
Hope for the best and expect the worst............take whatever life throws at you...
LOL-I didn't pick up on that originally (of course, I didn't read it either) but I knew that Usher made "Confessions" but I thought R Kelly was hiphop and rap.
quote: How can R. Kelly's "confessions" be up for so many award nominations and be so popular, especially with women? The song I have heard and watched on MTV talks about how he has gotten his mistress pregnant but he hopes his girlfriend doesn't get mad b/c he is man enough to tell her about it. This from the same dude that likes to defecate on women and young girls... scary.
OK...now did it bother anyone that he said R. Kelly....when it was USHER...USHER who came out with confessions, and he isn't even a rapper, neither is R-kelly!
*Opinions are like @$$holes...everybody's got one*
Eh, it's fine. I just barely took a bath. I have really dry skin today, so I kind of felt obligated to dry to re-hydrate (is that right?) my skin after all of this cold, dry weather. I actually accidentally fell asleep. This is getting more like the "some facts" board.
I agree, kids should have some respect, and parents should be keeping up with their kids. Ha! Sorry about the whole abortion thing! A little bit of a mixup. Yeah, I agree that adoption would be the better option.
No, not all rap is bad. I plan on being a parent, and I've already vowed that, as long as it is okay with the mom, there will be restricted media in my home until they are at least old enough to understand reality from surreality and surreality from fantasy. That would mean little to no television, no broadcasted music (but recorded would be all right) and stuff like that. I know it soundss strict, but you figure the kids won't have one-on-one interaction with other kids their own age until they are about five or six years old. By that time, they will have a very strong foundation and probably be able to experience interaction with other kids with proper behavior and understanding of the world around them in the ethical ways I and my wife wish for them to accept.
Ew, I sound like I'm 60... But I only want to be a good dad!!
I just woke up from a nap so excuse me If I've misunderstood you freedom. I understand what your saying about kids making it impossible for their parents because of the way they are. Parents shouldn't ne so fooled and manipulated by their kids. They should put their foot down and keep it there. I don't think that you can abort a baby after it was already born but adoption would be the best route to go either way, well atleast in my opinion. Kids are going to do what they want no matter what, they don't even have to listen to rap for that to happen. Rap isn't good for children if it has all that swearing and stuff but thats why they edit it out before playing it on tv or the radio. If parents cared they would See to it, no matter what it takes that they don't hear it at all.

Oh no, Ohio, that's not what I was saying at all! I was saying some parents drop their responsibility like *snap of fingers* that! And they can't do that! It makes me mad. And I'm not saying it's an excuse, but that's why irresponsible teenageers should have the 72-hour pill if they can, because the likelihood is that that girl's/guy's parents have not been active in their life. And if that doesn't work out, maybe it's time to consider abortion or giving the kids up for adoption.
quote:This is a rap song by Kanye West. Tell me again how all rap is evil and manipulative after reading these lyrics: (Jesus Walks)
God show me the way because the Devil trying to break me down (Jesus Walks with me) The only thing that I pray is that me feet don't fail me now (Jesus Walks) And I don't think there is nothing I can do now to right my wrongs (Jesus Walks with me) I want to talk to God but I'm afraid because we ain't spoke in so long
Thats a point I've been wanting to make! That was very well said!!!!
True freedom but that doesn't mean that they should abandon all parental responsibilities. They can still monitor what they watch or listen to while in the home. They can talk to them (not lecture) about what is right and what is wrong. The parents could atleast do that much and hope that it all sinks in to their heads. I know that I've always listened to rap and never once had any urges to do as any of it says. It doesn't encourage people to do as they do. If people do it, that's their own stupidity. They know that killing is wrong, they know for the most part that drugs are harmful. Anyway you put it, parents should never back down from their parental responsibilities and do what they have to do,to show theor kids that not everything celebrities do is good and shouldn't be copied. They could also teach their children about individuality, and how that is very important.

Parents need to be parents. That's all there is to it. Unfortunately, some parents are turned off to being parents because of what kids can do and get away with nowadays.
