OK, most of the topics and replies I've seen on this board are about Britney Spears and other people we find unacceptable. Who in the h*** are we to judge her and others, and find her wanting? We are only human, and so are the people we find so abhorrent. We are not God, and we should not be playing God by passing judgment. I understand if you just don't like the people, but saying they're awful without first studying all sides of each person and his or her individual personality and situation is like being extremely prejudiced; just seeing what you want to see and nothing else. Please reply. frown

Though I never really liked Brittney for her music, I always get a little mad when I hear people make fun of her. People don't seem to realize how much pressure there is being in the spotlight. I also agree that Brittney did not choose to be a role model, and it isn't fair at all that she should be forced to dress like she's sixteen years old, just for the benefit of those little girls who want to be exactly like her. It is the PARENTS' job to tell their kids who's a good role model.

Birdy girl you do have a great point but when I have children one day I dont think that I want them imitating who they watch on tv or listen to in music either. Why? Well I think that it is better for youths to see other people and learn from their mistakes not the cookie cutter pop idols who do stupid things because they dont think no one is watching them. Come on now millions of girls want to be brittney or christina and they are not the best role models for our children to look up to. Now I do realize that these people are just like you and me but when they have the spot light on them then they need to realize that they influence young minds and they also instill false hopes and dreams. I used to like brittney and cristina before they went to being nasty. Plus look at the way they act towards there fans they spit on them call them names, and in general are just vicious. So they deserve what they get. Big Grin

whoa guys! if its making britney happy- why diss her for it? there is no point hating anyone for how they dress or act, nobody can be labelled a sl.ut, even if they sleep around a lot cos nobody deserves that name. britney is doing her thing, she's enjoying her life and if she's unhappy, she can work it out herself. dont bother hating cos it makes u feel bad and look bad too! lets just be happy and not bother caring what other ppl think! ur gonna be gone in 100 years, not even remembered, so why not make a difference now, be as controversial as u like, just do ur thing and dont care what ppl say,..it removes a lot of presure to be "slu.tty" or "cool". just go ur own way- and who actually really cares what brit wears? its all marketing anyway...just let her be and dig her own road... razz

I don't think Britney Spears should be labeled as a role model.. b/c I mean what kind of world is this that has stripper role models but I don't think that we should shun her b/c of the way she chooses to dress or dance or w/e. The thing that I want to know is why is it that everyone focuses all the negativity on Britney? What About Christina Aguelaria (I know thats probably spelled wrong but I just don't care)? She is just as bad if not worse than Britney.... no no she is worse. Think about it, she dresses way more ****ty than Britney and the way she acts is horrid. She is so pseudo-ghetto/punker.... You may be thinking what is ur point? Well here it is... I hate Christina! I really do AND let these people be who they want... you complaining about how they are doesn't change anything it just makes you more annoyed that your opinion doesn't change them.... *this sounds a lil hypicritical about me complaining about Christina and then saying not to... I just want to get my message of me disliking her soo much out*

Why does anyone really care?

What's the point in being absorbed in another's lifestyle?

I criticize Britney because of the way she dresses and acts. Let's take a trip down Memory lane while during her 2000 VMA performance she did a strip tease!! Wow, that's what you call a responsible person, who many people look at, and say, "Now why can't I look like that?" She is bad for many teen girls body images. But of course some celebrities believe plastic is the way to go. Or how about Christina Aguilera, while in a recent Rolling Stone interview she outright admitted that she is pierced "below the belt!" She had what she called it at this year's VMA's as "reverse cleavage." How about the cover for her new album "Stripped?" She has her hair covering up her boobs, while have a large area of her pants missing in the front. These are people I want my future kids looking at and going, "Gee I wanna be just like them someday." Ummmm no. But I guess if you are against criticizing Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, how do you feel about Pamela Anderson? Is she someone who you view as a saint? As someone who you would want to be your kid's role model? Come on, yeah it's their life, but since they are in the public eye, maybe they should try to wear things that don't make them look like hookers. (Maybe that's where Pamela gets some extra money since Baywatch was canceled....) Maybe they should wear things you could actually get away with in a school, or even a supermarket. I wouldn't serve them half of the time, cause most of the time they are wearing things that don't even look like a shirt... sometimes they are even skimpier than some swimsuits!!!!!! Sorry but, no shirt, no shoes, no service!

Look, I may only be so old and only able to say so many things, but when somebody judges another, it is down right mean. Britney Spears for one does have some songs that kids under my age shouldn't be listening to. She does have some moves that are not appropriate, but she has agreed with them. She has the right to do what she pleases. Saying that she doesn't know how to act for her age, or that she acts like a hooker is like saying that to a classmate. She is a human. She was made by God and that is the way it has been. I know everyone judges and does things of the such, but we shouldn't. It is hurtful to anyone and anything.

OK! So someone tell me, who was it that made Britney Spears a role model? People pick their own role models, if girls want to look up to Britney that's they're choice. She's never asked for girls to look up to her, they do that on their own. True she is a celebrity, but it's really up to the parents to teach their children who would make a good role model and who won't. Britney is just like all of us, she's a human who's living her life to the best of her ability. I'm not saying don't judge, we all judge...but I am saying that you should recognize that fact that it's WRONG to judge her in this fashion. We all live our lives the way we feel is right, others may disagree, but that's their choice. Let's give each other a break alright. big grin

Awright...you have you Spears bashing threads...and now an ANTI-bashing thread!!!
WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In a (very odd) way Snatch DOES have a point. America loves celebrities, even though mayve .01% of them actually DO something that benefits society. Most celebrities couldn't really give a flying f whether people like them or not as long as they keep making money.

Britney Spears is no exception. Her music is also crap. AND she lip syncs.

I agree
It's wrong to hate on brittny spears like that
She dresses like most people her age do. She she be forced to where full length skirts and baggy tops just because some people percive her to be a role model
I don't think thats fair
Let her do her. Hell, I think alot of the stuff she wears is cute. Not hoe-ish, not nasty.
Its how she makes her money

In response to whyamihere's comment
"So...hookers should have sex with strange men they should do so without being judged because thats how they make their money"

I think so. I don't think they should be out there turning tricks
But they gotta do what they gotta do
Nobody but God, and their momma, got the right to judge them

I agree BG. Besides if we regular ppl were in the business they'd tell us what to wear and tell us what to say just like they do to all the rest of the pop singers. Most of you ppl are just jealous anyway, AND in the big minority since ppl like Britney Spears are so famous, which means ppl like them and no matter how much you don't like it...she's gonna be around for a while. I'd like to say i wish i had her body and some of her moves. She can keep her voice though. HAHA. Thanx Love you all! smile

If Brittany wants to dress that way she should do so without being judged b/c for one thats how she makes her money. secondly people have to notic that she's growing up and can't always be stuck with the younger audience. i for one don't like her very much b/c of some of her songs. but she has to stand for herself when it comes to her image.

why must we judge?

well, first of all, we are human. humans are sinful by nature (yes, sinful.... its actually real), and so we tend to do that.

Secondly, even if we try not to, which we should, no one is perfect, and even the most anti-judgmental-activist judges on occasion.

Thirdly, if something is true, and you state it, its not judging, its simply stating a fact.

If Brittney Spears dresses in a way that is not setting a good example for people under her, then Brittney Spears dresses in a way that is not setting a good example for people under her. that's that. not a judgment, simply true.

Lastly, people in the media know what they are getting into when they start all that stuff. It's not completely outrageous, just normal.
