Did you go see Hotel Rwanda and feel utterly disgusted that the just watched as genocide occured in Rwanda? Did you feel frustrated that you couldn't do anything about it?

Well it's happening again. There is genocide occuring in Sudan now.

The ongoing crisis in Darfur has killed more than 335,000 and displaced over 2 million Sudanese since February 2003. The UN has called it “the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.”Congress has declared it a genocide.

YOU CAN HELP.
Students have come up with a novel idea to stop the genocide in Sudan by raising funds for the African Union Peace Keeping Mission in Sudan as well as pushing governments to act and creating public awareness.

That was the same thing that ticked me off. Its strange how something so big could pass before our eyes without sufficient action. During the movie when the UN & their partnerships were leaving, I wanted to scream at them. Really. Well, at least, in between tears.

And that one quote the photographer/videojournalist said to Paul R. regarding what he had recorded: "..If people see this they'll say- 'Oh, thats horrible' and then go on eating their dinners."

So true. We live in an American bubble.

It's ironic, really. I sit here condemning the american culture and yet i, myself, do nothing.
I'm going to change that now. It's time for action. I'll see what i can do..

You are right, that quote is so true. It says a lot.

I do the same thing, I complain and complain about the US, the war, etc. but do nothing about it...

Glad someone noticed. I was going to say the same thing.

I saw Hotel Rwanda just recently (a result of my teacher's persistence) and i must say, it is one powerful movie.

So, if you havent seen it yet- go. Go now. While its still out (if it is still out in your area.)

Get it off the internet. Its illegal but why should a company be able to profit off one of the biggest genocides. And then when you can get it on DVD buy it. I like the site savedarfur.org where you can buy darfur genocide awareness braclets like the yello "livestrong" ones but these are green.

I just finished watching the movie 5 minutes ago. I'm totally outraged that the world just sat back and let it happen, it's unbelievable. It makes me sick. I cried during half the movie. I just can't get the faces of those people out of my head. Sorry this is all I can write right now, I'm just really upset about it, it's totally unbelievable to me that the rest of the world would just sit back while nearly a milion people were killed with ****ing machetes.

. I personally committed myself to this cause after realizing that my friends, who had just viewed the film Hotel Rwanda with me and had been horrified by the events it portrayed, would wake up the next morning unaware and apathetic to genocide in the world.

Please don't be apathetic. Please don't forget.
