that's true, djmag. That song needs to be understood. And still, there are plenty more respectable rappers out there, only they are very hard to find.

Rappers like Jay Z and Nelly are kind of screwing it up for a cultural music genre that really is an amazing art.

My favorite rappers? Look into Nas, Tupac, and (yes)eminem to name a few.

Gem you have to understand two things,
Number one, I have NO respect for most police officers; I won't get into my life story to explain this.
Number 2, you have to understand the situation that they were living in at the time, everybody knows the NWA lived in Compton, where the police had been in trouble many times for racial profiling and various other racial problems. You have to take the song as a protest against the blatant misconduct by the police.
Here's part of the lyrics from the song for you to review
"**** the police comin straight from the underground
A young ***** got it bad cause I'm brown
And not the other color so police think
they have the authority to kill a minority
**** that ****, cause I ain't the one
for a punk mother****er with a badge and a gun
to be beatin on, and thrown in jail
We can go toe to toe in the middle of a cell
****in with me cause I'm a teenager
with a little bit of gold and a pager
Searchin my car, lookin for the product
Thinkin every ***** is sellin narcotics
You'd rather see, me in the pen
than me and Lorenzo rollin in a Benz-o
Beat a police out of shape
and when I'm finished, bring the yellow tape
To tape off the scene of the slaughter
Still gettin swoll off bread and water
I don't know if they **** or what
Search a ***** down, and grabbin his nuts
And on the other hand, without a gun they can't get none
But don't let it be a black and a white one
Cause they'll slam ya down to the street top
Black police showin out for the white cop
Ice Cube will swarm
on ANY mother****er in a blue uniform
Just cause I'm from, the CPT
Ounk police are afraid of me!
HUH, a young ***** on the warpath
And when I'm finished, it's gonna be a bloodbath
of cops, dyin in L.A.
Yo Dre, I got somethin to say

There is a difference between rap and hip-hop. Most of the stuff called rap today is utter crap; you could even question if it has any roots in the older stuff because it sounds more like pop music in the way the songs are composed. Most Rap I have always seen as crap, but there are exceptions with older stuff, such as NWA. Now hip-hop is a completely different story, a lot of the artists write brilliant lyrics and beats, but you will only find this stuff in the underground not on MTV, that is why I've gone away from commercial music for so many years. As for saying that only black people can only do rap or hip-hop, you need to check out the Unknown prophets cause they are in direct disagreement with you black only rap argument.

White people can rap, too. But rap is too full of racial slurs, profanity, sex, and violence for me to actually appreciate it.

And STOP YELLING, dammit.
