Ok, I'm not sure how many people have heard about this. I just read about it today, and I thought I'd pass it along, I'm kind of in a gossipy mood today. But there was a voice mail message that was leaked to the public of Alec Baldwin going absolutely crazy on his 11 year old daughter Ireland for not picking up the phone. What does everyone think? If Alec Baldwin was my dad I probably wouldn't answer the phone either.

If Alec's life wasn't already under a microscope, nobody would care. Just leave the poor man alone.

Has anyone stop to realize that Alec's been going through a rather nasty divorce for the past six years? Pretty much the only thing he has left out of that marriage is his daughter, so I think he's perfectly justified in getting angry that she doesn't even want to take the time to talk to him. Besides, as has been said, the inner workings of that family is none of our business. TMZ was (as usual) way out of line in putting that recording out in the open.

Besides, celebrities are just as much humans as the rest of us. I'll never understand why people get so shocked when they hear about them doing the same things the rest of us do.

It's the family's business. We don't know enough to reasonably speculate.

When I saw my mom watching a Larry King episode in which they'd actually brought in a "panel of experts" to analyze the Baldwin tape, my faith in her and in humanity dropped another several notches.

I'd hit my parents back too when I was upset about them spanking me. But, they didn't cower and let me get away with it, because I didn't run the household, I didn't pay for squat, all I did is sit around and run up their bills. My parents never even went there, because they knew that if they ever hit me, I'd hit 'em back. I'm sorry but, when I was growing up, timeouts never worked and niether did long talks. This is why my parents threatened me with a belt whenever I misbehaved. They made me fear them, and to this day I am thankful for it. Now, I am just a perfect little angel who's never done anything wrong and as a result, they've spoiled me rotten.

I will treat my kids (if I have any) the same exact way. It's the way children of most mammals are disciplined.

I somehow feel like I've been spying on their family by listening to that. He was pretty harsh, but it sounds like she probably had it coming. I hope this doesn't really affect the custody battle; not because I know enough about Alec Baldwin to think he'd be a good father but just because it seems like in these sorts of cases the most unimportant things always get totally blown out of proportion.

For the record, if my dad ever talked to my 11 year old sister like that I'd probably kick his ass, but my sister's an angel. No one could ever get that mad at her if they tried

I don't understand the big deal. It's his daughter. So he yelled at her. EVERY dad yells at their kid. It's just that everything our respective dads say isn't broadcast to the entire country. My dad once threatened to kill me and my sister for not putting out laundry in the laundry closet. We laughed.

Kim Basinger is playing very dirty in this custody battle. Not that I think any 11-year-old should be talked to that way, but come ON.

My mom would talk to me the same way when I was younger, because I was a totally disrespectful little shit head and I deserved it. I'm sure there is more to this story, and more about what his daughter did, so I have zero sympathy for her.
