Because they never gave it a chance you know? But they've gotten pretty lax on the whole subject of Harry Potter so it's better than nothing right? Spatula: yay! another Sirius fan! lol do you think Gary Oldman did a good job as him in the movie (if you've seen it)? I think he may not have looked anything like what I imagined but he was awesome all the same. yo ~Padfoot

I love Harry Potter (as in reading the books and watching the movies). And I also don't see why people aren't allowed to watch the movies or read the books. It has absolutely nothing to do with witchcraft, but about magic. I just wish more people would read the books or watch the movies before they talk trash about it. (Oh, and my favorite characters are Harry and Ron).

I think Sirius was my favorite character. Aw, now I feel sad. He was awesome, though, especially in the Marauders era. Yay!

I find it kind of ironic that american fundie christians have such a big problem with the harry potter books simply because they deal with magic and wizardry...in a very obviously fantastical, fictional way i might add...I think they fail to realize that even one of the greatest christian authors of all times, CS Lewis wrote fantasy books for children that also contain magic and wizardry.
But I don't think its just the magic that american fundamentalists have a problem with concerning the potter books, i also think it could be the underlying theme. The hero of the book is a non-conformist who is persecuted for being 'weird' and 'abnormal' (much like us modern day pagans and freethinkers are persecuted for thinking outside the box), which doesn't exactly jibe with the conservative american brand of christianity where 'normalcy' is the best policy.
I love the Harry Potter books and I'm glad there's at least something of substance out there with a good message for kids about not being afraid to be yourself, even if it doesn't conform to people's idea of 'normalcy'. Kids of today especially need more encouragement when it comes to things like reading and appreciating things that are truly artistic, witty and thought-provoking, since all pop culture has to offer is a bunch of superficial images.

Sirius was cool. And yeah, I thought the movies were bad, too. Can I help you remake them, caerat?

It was a crack up when I first read "Prisoner of Azkaban" last September. I went to my friend and said (after the first few chapters) "Sirius Black is innocent, and he isn't trying to kill Harry, but protect him. I don't know from what yet. And he's related to him someway, friend of the family." She wouldn't give anything away, she said. I sat there for a bit then asked "Is Sirius Harry's godfather?" and she blinked. I was like "HAH!" lol so yeah, it wasn't a big mystery that unfolded at the end, with Pettigrew.Though I didn't see the "Scabbers" thing coming.lol I was so ticked when I read the fifth one, but then I already knew because another friend of mine spilled the beans on me. *pout* I'm gonna remake the movies when I'm older, make them better.lol yo ~Padfoot PS. how do you get those siggy things? I see them on the other sites I go on but I've never been able to figure out how to get them on this one.
