Yes, I am a sexual person. Yes, I am sexy! Yes, I have the right to express them. Yes! Yes! and more Yes...

that is what they probably think.

But I'm just wondering... they use their talent as a way of saying...hey, i'm expressing myself, you should do the same! it's all right...etc.. But don't you think that it would give youngsters an excuse to express themselves beyond what they are ready to express? There is no harm in encouraging people to exercise their rights of speech and expression, but with the way they are portraying them, it could also have a negative effect on others. Like, young kids being all grown up..even if they are not. They just think they are...

isn't it a wonder why generations grow up so fast?(like young girls acting like WOMEN)

people always say that they (brit, christina) are being bad influences toward their kids; so don't let them watch or hear their music! it's as simple as that..i don't think they are goin to far because they're bein themselves and bein yourself is never going to far..i don't understand how christina or britney are ****s because isn't that based on how much you sleep around? no one knows what they do during their free time..and lastly, why are they getting so much flack when rap artists rap about more provacative things like drugs, sex, violence?????

Personally, I think that this noisboard needs to define the difference between an artist and a performer. Music can be a very powerful way to express ideas, oppinions, beliefs, emmotions, anything on a person's mind. Music is probably my favorite art form by far. However, jsut because something is music, it doesn't necisarily make something and expression. Some music has no value other than entertainment. I don't know much about Aguillera or Spears, so I'm hesitant to actually slam them personally. However, people need to realize that art and freedom of expression is one thing, and bending to the will of the masses, doing whatever will bring in the most money, and marketing oneself at every turn is NOT art or expression. So, the topic of this noiseboard being "artists have been expressing themselves with their music. But don't you think they go too far?" Isn't really correct. Expression of one's self cannot be taken too far. Marketing and showing whatever they are asked to show can be. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Yea it's sad that people like Christina and Britney have to trot around in string bikini's, but parents play a large role too. Parents say what their kids can watch or listen to. Parents need to be more involved with their children now-a-days.

I'm not hating, I'm just making an observation. I don't have anything against piercings, I have a few myself.

you would be surprised at what some parents let their kids wear to school. At my school we don't have a uniform, but they are slowly imposing a dress code. Christina Aguilera may be dressing "like a s.l.u.t" in some people's opinion. I personally think that the word "s.l.u.t" has to do with the actions people do(eg. sleeping around), not by the way you dress.

NO! I think everyone is fine for doing what they do!! Get out of everyone's business and stop hating! Who cares! If you don't like what other people do, don't do it. If you think you need to act like other people, then you have other issues to deal with. It's a free country, stop trying to make it into something else....

Christina Aguillera has so many piercings that if she drank a glass of water, I'd bet she'd leak like a pasta strainer.

But don't you think that it would give youngsters an excuse to express themselves beyond what they are ready to express?
quote:

I don't believe that there is a a such thing of what you can and cannot express. When you express yourself, you say what you feel and what really matters to you.So, when you say "beyond what they are ready to express" that is being a little unrealistic.(In my opinion.)

There is no harm in encouraging people to exercise their rights of speech and expression, but with the way they are portraying them, it could also have a negative effect on others.
quote:

I believe that nothing anyone says can have a negative effect on another person. How it effects you depends on how you take it.Alot of people today blame somone else on the way they are.No one tells you what to do.For example, people say that magazines and the media make teens think that they are supposed to be really skinny or that they need big butts to be beautiful. If you believe that, then you have some self esteem problems and you let someone make you think you are not beautiful. So, my point is,the only way what someone says can have a negative effect on you is if you let it.

No, i dont think people need an excuse to express themselves in the first place.

Depends how young your talking, at young ages people start thinking abstractly about things they havent experienced or seen yet. In my oppinion its better for them to have a real example of what others have become. I geuss it just prevents mistakes.

For those of you who think that Christina or Brittney are dressing and acting certain ways because of changes in their personality or age it is time for you to realize that their entire persona is a creation of the record industry, they dont pick out their clothes and they hardly write and music.

At times, i think, they can be out of control but you have to under stand that they have an image to uphold and they have to make money. If half of these artists didn't take off most of their clothes they wouldn't be so big. I'm not defending them i'm just saying that they have a job and entertainers jobs these days consist of trampy, outrageous styles. This is america i thought we had a choice to wear what we wanted. Christina has a great voice (unlike Britney) but she sings trashy songs and dresses like a s.l.u.t! She says she's growing up, but a person that is grown up wouldn't act/dress like that!!! I mean, did her parents let her dress like that at home??? Most likely. Britney's pretty bad, but not near as bad as Christina.
