I dont think that she should have said that. Yes, we have freedom of speech..In the USA! She said that in London. That is not the USA! so what does that tell you?? Yes she needs to apoligize big time!

Ok, BIG difference between Trent Lott and the Dixie Chicks: Trent Lott's an elected politician. He helps make public policy. In effect, his opinions have the potential to become law.
Natalie Whosherwhatsit, however, doesn't really have the slightest bearing on passing legislation. Because she's in the public spotlight she doesn't have the right to voice her opposition to Bush's foreign policy? Come on.
Who cares if she said what she said in London? Her right to free speech as an American is protected there just as ir would be protected if she had said it in Times Square.

If she can state her horrible opinion I can state mine right...and I acaully in the U.S. unlike what she did.

She has the right of the First Amendment...freedom of speech here it isnull(Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances)
that is NOT the international laws of human rights...is it. She shoudl not be trotting herself and putting her opinion out there in the middle of London when she has the uge place...her homeland. Where she could speak her wonderful mind. but if she got to say something about our president then she can say it here in America not in a different country where she can hide her cowardly self. Our president is a great man who knows what he is doing. She doesnt...none of us know EXACTLY what is going on behind the curtains do we.
So in my opinion she should of never said what she said in the first place but in another country...forget her and her band members... isnt worht my time.

They are two very different things

trent lott said a racist comment. Natalie maines stated her opinion. She doesn't like George Bush. What's the big deal? People say that all the time and nobody cares. But since she's a singer it's like gasp! she must keep her mouth shut

Natalie Maines is as much as an american citizen as i. so if she hates the prez, then let her say what she wants. She probably shouldn't even have apologized

I used to be a fan of the Dixie Chicks but I am not anymore. They are adults and Natalie Maines should have known that her comments would have consequences. An apology doesn't cut it because she can't take back what she said. Were Trent Lott's apologies accepted?

what the hell? first off, this should be moved to the topic. second off, she's a ****ing american citizen, and she was dissing the american president. it's irrevelent where she said it. Now, if she were ripping on tony blair, then maybe...maybe...
