"My mother said that it's all her fault for becoming anorexic, and she is setting a horrible example for children and teens."

I think its the opposite! I think that its a good example for kids and teens to understand that this is a serious disease. Plus a lot of girls look up to the olsen twins so I think understanding that anorexia affects even people that appear to be happy with their lives. I think that it opened awareness.

and nicoley im glad that you have overcome your anorexia. i remember your posts when you went through it which was hard for a lot of people since pretty much every teen knows someone suffering from an eating disorder. congrads.

"God forbids she actually relapses."

My hurdle coach was anorexic in her teens when she realized that she could possibly loose her ability to have children which was, what she said, what really whipped her into realizing what she was doing to her body. She said that anorexia never quite goes away- that you always have anorexic tendencies and always hold back or are calorie conscious. I guess you just have to build your self-esteem a bit to live anorexic-relapse-free?

quite frankly i think noone can blame mary kate for having anorexia.i feel so because it is a disease that you almost have no choice about. it is not a drug of choice, it is a disease. Having said that, i respect mary kate for having the strenght to choose treatment in the eyes of the public because lord knowsa this could destroy her career. I think it takes a stronng person with a lot of support to face the kind of intrusion into her life that is goin on now and that would occur later if God forbids she actually relapses.

I didn't loose any Mary-Kate when I found out she was anorexic. I never really had any interest in her until now, and I just feel horrible knowing first hand, what kind of crap she is going through.

It must be painful though, being famous and all. I remember being anorexic, and I din't want anyone to find out about it, and her- my God it's on the front of every magazine and newspaper. It's a shame, that so much pressure is being put apon her.

My mother said that it's all her fault for becoming anorexic, and she is setting a horrible example for children and teens. I think that's insane. I for one, know that I did not wake up one day and say, "Today I'm not going to eat any more!" It's almost like a disease. You see it on TV, in the magazines, and some of your friends even, and you just think, "God...If only I looked like that. If I just lost five pounds." And then 5 pounds becomes 10, and soon you're in a hospital. It's like your brain is being taken over by all the things the media says.

I think celebrities are so insecure about their bodies... They are so fake.. I mean, nobody has a perfect body so why should anyone go and make yourself so perfect, you look like a mannequin!

Personally, my opinion hasn't really changed much about them, I'm really impressed how Mary-Kate went public about this, IM guessing it takes a lot of guts to go public with something like that, so on the most part I have a new respect for them. Smile

Hehe, yeah. I heard about that. Then today at the store the tabloids were saying that it wasn't anorexia, it was cocaine. Nice, huh?
