Do you have a certain band in mind that carries the title "Most Influential" (not most controvertial)? Why? In case they're influential in a controvesial manner, why so?

i cant name any particular bands just songs that are influential
trivium's "like light to the flies" which is about how people are atracted to things like pain and suffering but run away if its pain and suffering for them but in order to under stand what a song is about then you need to listen to it not for entertain ment but thinking of what the song means another song
"six" by all that remains
is about having feelings for a girl/guy that you broke up with (doesnt matter who initiated it)

is it possible to fall in love if you have a broken heart?

Well of course THE BEATLES. Without them, music culture will cease to exist. There's also a lot more bands (and artists!), so I should start writing in list format... and in no particular order, by the way.

1. Elvis Presley
2. Johnny Cash
3. Bob Dylan
4. The Jimi Hendrix Experience
5. Ray Charles
6. Chuck Berry
7. Sex Pistols
8. The Clash
9. The Ramones.
10. Janis Joplin
11. Nirvana
12. (sadly) Green Day [even though Johnny Rotten from The Sex Pistols said they're not punk... how funny is that?]
13. Iggy Pop and The Stooges
14. AC/DC
15. Led Zeppelin
16. Pink Floyd
17. Radiohead
18. The Who
19. Van Halen
20. Rites of Spring

These are the musical influences I can think of so far. And another thing, what is with all these people listing My Chemical Romance and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus? [As if we need more whiny, faux-emo bands] Not trying to sound arrogant, but seriously? As if the subjects in their lyrics haven't been heard before... maybe even BETTER. But that's just my opinion.

But I don't understand how's it possible to live... love... secretly.

LED ZEPPELIN & SEX PISTOLS. The Beatles are incredible but I think of them as pop-rock and not the energetic rock I need.

My Chemical Romance

But who am I to say they are the most influential band? And that I think is the great thing about any band that is out there making music that has a message. They all influence people and, if its a great band, the music industry in different ways. Thats really what musics about. Smile

THE BEATLESSS
They changed rock and roll, from the pop-ish stuff of the fifties, and replaced it with actually good music that people still talk about twenty seven years after John Lennons death, and the break up of the beatles, ten years or so before that.

Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

What influential doesn't mean: A band you like.

What influential does mean: Exercising influence or power over others. Having a direct effect on others music by these others taking yours as reference.

If we're going with influential with regards to musical style, I'm changing my choice to Thin Lizzy. They really started modern hard rock with the two lead guitars, and that was back in the '70s, when disco and funk were still top.

I actually agree with sweetiepie20, the beattles altered the world of music. They risked being different and bam it paied off. The influenced a change in the road of music in their time.
