Metal is my fav. I like most forms of music (even reggae & rap) but heavy metal is the music of my soul. FYI Lottie, I DO love KISS as well.

MCR is considered emo? They sound more like rock to me. But, that was an interesting description, Canvas; I never knew any of that.

The Breeders are an American alternative rock band formed in 1988.

Passionate music. Most of what happens to click with me is rock, especially underground rock, but there's classical, and a little bit of rap. I'm listening to Pixies as I write this. quote: originally by bushsupporter: Anyone care to explain this emo thing to me?
Sure, I'd personally be glad to actually (well, to explain how it came about, not its appeal - same thing, in a way). Forget the corporate idea of what emo is - My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, etc - and you'll get it. Emo - or emocore, as it was called - was started in the underground back in the 80s. The thing about it was that the performers would be so caught-up in their music that they'd exhibit the emotions on stage - usually by crying. Rites of Spring, Gray Matter, etc - all these bands did that. By definition, emocore had to be a band from Washington, too (just like grunge was from Seattle). But as it gained popularity it was picked-up by the mainstream and it's become a parody of itself. Sort of like glam metal. But fire-up any Rites of Spring CD and Fall Out Boy CD and you'll see the world of difference; it takes a while to get into RoS but once you're there you can't go out. Lol btw I find it so appropriate that you listen to the national anthem xD I think you might like the jazz acts of the '20s since so many of them were patriotic. quote: I saw them live and it was the most boring concert that I have ever seen - are the members of tool strapped to the stage so they can't move around?
Beatles. Breeders. 'nuff said.

Does tool perform a traditional rendition of the National Anthem? Otherwise, they are lame.

Indie, Experimental, Ska, Jazz, Smooth Jazz, Classic Rock, Electronic, etc. I personally don't like country and blues...but otherwise I can stand most everything else.

Considering I don't like live music, I wouldn't know.

Emo is goth-lite: for the rebellious children in society to seek attention without going 'over the edge' and people thinking they worship Satan.
I like these calm little moments before the storm.
