I am a thirteen year old Asian male who doesn't like the stereotype that people sometimes associate me with. You know, the one where I have glasses and listen to classical. The truth is that I get out of the house, I DO watch TV, I know what is playing on the radio, and I have a social life. I don't draw "anime" or play piano, nor do I wear glasses or say "ching-chong."
Just know that not all Asians are like that. There ARE some of us that are different. I would also like to speak against stereotyping Black Americans, because I have a friend named Rahwa who is a punk and artist, and she doesn't like being sorted into a category either.
Now, don't take me wrong for some cold-hearted person, but come on...i mean, creating threads for self pity...yes, we ALL have stereotypes, maybe next time make it a little more general. It makes it sound like you're just complaining, which i know you aren't, but you see what i mean? We all have stereotypes, it's just a matter of how we deal with them
I don't get it. You create a thread complaining about a stereotype you don't like. Instead of suggesting some sort of solution, or requesting ways to deal with it, as you see in most threads like this, you try to 'educate' people, by telling us to "Just know that not all Asians are like that." Now, let's think for a second, if there is someone stupid and ignorant enough to think every Asian person in the world is the same, do you honestly think this thread is going to make any difference whatsoever?
Up the creek without a paddle? Heck, I never even had a friggin' boat.
wow very indain..its so nice to finally see some fellow country person on this most american site..yeah i was in NY where were you?? good to ahve you around please stick for long...
Dont let ur studies interfere with ur education!!!!!
its totally unfair teh way asians are sterotyped..when i lived in america everyone used to first think i was a geek and when they relaised i wasnt their attitude compltetly changed..and somehow i alwyas felt the discrimination...
Dont let ur studies interfere with ur education!!!!!
heh,ive heard so many stereotypes that they bounce off like lame jokes now. i dont really care whether or not the next white guy says 'ni hao' to me, ill just smile and say 'and hello to your *****-cracker-jack *** too, have a good one'
And do you know what it's like to be a Puerto Rican who doesn't act/look Puerto Rican, and then when people know I'm Puerto Rican, they try to say something in Spanish or gossip in English as if I don't know the language?
"Regardless, I have always, and will always, succeed."
Do you know what it's like to go into the punk section of a music store and have people stare at you? It's unbearable. Then there's all these ignorants who try to say stuff like "ni-hao" or whatever. It's incredibly ignorant.
