LABELS SUCK!!! stereotyping is for the weak... music is nothing... its just music. you shouldnt have to define it in order to like it. its something to entertain you.

yeah many bands didnt say they were either, they never claim to be,in the first place.people just come out and label them as punks, and then more people come out and call them posers Wink

I hate people who go off and lie about who they are either because they want to be popular or else are too stupid to know what their saying. True punks are underground extremists who don't set out to be popular or even respected, so the current trend of "posers" is really a perversion of it. Saying you like Linkin Park, Good Charlotte, Blink 182 , etc., in no way makes you punk at all. People who do this don't fool anyone but themselves, and that's sad that they need to pretend to be something they aren't just to feel liked.

Incidentally, I wouldn't call myself a punk at all. In reality, I'm almost every way the antithesis of a punk, even though a lot of my friends are punks themselves. Besides, Punk is such a loaded word that its already pretty hard to define even after nearly four decades of punk music. Honestly though, I'm more of a punk than a lot of the people right now claiming their "hard-core" when I place on a suit and tie, they're that pathetic sometimes.

I'm not just saying this cuz i'm a gc fan!

in my dictionary, punk means you do what you want and don't give a **** what other people think of you. therefore good charlotte isn't a bunch of posers. i'm sure they don't give a rat's *** if you think they are posers. Roll Eyes nullnull

While I'm not a fan of Blink 182, Good Charlotte, or the pop punk bands in general...

I must admit it's this whole "punker than thou" attitude that ruins good scenes everywhere. I had a friend who was way too into being "more punk" than everyone else, and he just ended up looking like idiot and earning himself the name "Captain Anarchy."

you should all just let them play their music and do what they want to do

and if you dont like it then i have this little piece of advice for you:

DON'T

LISTEN

TO

IT

because no one's forcing you too

and everyone else is sick of hearing you complaining!

all these bands you are talking about and all others like them are unoriginal and have nothing to say. punk is a movement isn't it? then why are these guys singing about girls and highschool crap? nothing intelligent about them and don't care for them at all. but then i am a big snob about music because thesedays, nothing is original and no one has anything important to say. i'm not impressed at their pathetic attempt to act like they are hard and making empty threats about being "different". they all sound the same to me. my two cents...
kisses and blesses,

you might not like them, but i do. and i dont think that theyre trying to be anything theyre not. theyre just trying to be themselfs and establish themselfs as what they are not as what others might want them 2 be.

Define "poser," please. It's an exceptionally broad term... pointless...

Maybe it's because I like Good Charlotte
These people have an essetial difference from Avril,Avril said she was punk while she wasn't that punk.
They don't act rude without a reason to be "punk"

I don't know much about Blink128 but I'm sure Good Charlotte aren't posers. They said, they never labeled themselves as a punk band, people call them so and they can't help. They said they just wanted kids to listen to the music and forget about the bad things then go back home, get back to life.
They make good music,I like the lyrics. For example that song called The Innocent,it's about the 9'11.....They are making sense, writing what they feel about the world, unlike some singers trying to be cool and different and complain about everything singing drugs are good...

Yes...indeed they are posers. As is Avril...cough cough. But their music is good so it's all good- though I don't consider them punk/rock. =) APATHY IS LIFE!

OK I don't think they're posers! ok this is the definition of poser at www.dictionary.com check it if ya don't believe me!!

poser-
n. A wannabee; not hacker slang, but used among
crackers, phreaks and warez d00dz. Not as negative as lamer or
leech. Probably derives from a similar usage among punk-rockers
and metalheads, putting down those who "talk the talk but don't walk
the walk".

Ok the way I understand it is that posers say they can skate...Good Charlotte doesn't say they can skate.....when somebody says they can and they really can't then that's my definition of a poser.
