My favorite band of all time is The Beatles. I grew up listening to their music and they are such an important part of music history.

Lot of good bands listed. All time favorite is RUSH (old school, I know, but still putting out good music and they have influenced so many bands out now). Also like Dream Theatre, Metallica, Switchfoot, Linkin Park, Chevelle, Foo Fighters, Three Days Grace, and so on.

I have way too many.

Some of my favourites are:

Agalloch, All That Remains, Amon Amarth, Arch Enemy, Arsis, Behemoth, Bolt Thrower, Daath, Dark Tranquillity, DevilDriver, Heaven Shall Burn, Kataklysm, Kreator, Napalm Death, Rotting Christ, Scar Symmetry, Six Feet Under, Soilwork, Threat Signal, VNV Nation.

Cheated the way from fringe to elite. Clique of stylists, rounded illogic skipping a beat to a dead cert. By lheaving charges and bursting the abscess, with a forked toungue, bloated with courage and spewing self-importance. Drop your sights, aim lower, leave umblemished those with real power.

Their almost contemporary songs are a nice break to the rest of the album also.

yeah I've noticed that with a lot of screamer metal bands, the leads actually have very nice voices when they aren't growling/screaming

AFI, has a hard rock screaming thing going on in most songs, but once you get past that and actually listen to the lyrics, I really liked it. Their almost contemporary songs are a nice break to the rest of the album also.

a goth band

so I have a new band that I think kicks major ass

It's called Kittie and it's an all girl metal band that ranges from alt to death in intensity. The lead singer is a smaller chick but dear god she's got a angelic voice and a growl that seems to be from satan himself.

these chicks have proven that girls (and canadians!) can play in the world of metal and kick major ass
