BB Brunes are pretty much one of the best bands I know.
It's not all just French stuff, they have a couple of English songs as well. ("Summer Days", "Wolfman/Le Chanson Cachée")
KYO, MC Solaar, Amine are all good artists as well.
And if you are into techno/alternative, check out some Daft Punk, Justice and Fedde Le Grand.
Christopher Lohr has some really beautiful music. "C'est Ainsi" is my favourite. I can't find any of it on Limewire though, so if you need help, IM me and I'll send it to you instead.

And if you find any other music you think is really good, could you IM me?
Merci beaucoup.

Welcome to YN, Mendozza! In the future, please try to condense all of your writing to one post. To get rid of clutter, we all try to avoid posting multiple times consecutively on the same thread. If you think of something you want to add at the last minute, you have an eight-minute period to edit your posts. You can edit your post by clicking on the image of the folder with the eraser in the upper-right-hand corner of your post. Also very handy for fixing those pesky typos we all always seem to notice a minute too late! Also, pay attention to when posts were posted...the post that started this thread by brookleigh89 was posted in May 2006. You can tell when a YNer has last logged on by checking ther profile, and in brooke's case, it's been since July 2006, so it's unlikely she'll read your response. If you're looking to get in touch with someone who hasn't been on the Boards in a while, your best bet is NOISEmail, though even that will be a bit of a shot in the dark after two years.

Mary Slut is pretty good for French rock and roll. France also has a really big grunge scene still going on. I know one band is The Chocolate. Hope that helps

Absolutely! Noir Desir! The awesomest band in the whole world. Look for them! In fact, I'll stop listening to Japanese music and listen to them now!

All I can give you is a disturbing song about buying fruit I was forced to listen to incessantly in French "class". "je vais au marche, pour achete des fruits des oranges, des pommes, des fraises, des whatever, over and over j'aime fruits! j'aime fruits! jus, c'est sucre! je fait les tartes avec pommes, c'est sucre!" in various permutations with various fruits, to this gratingly annoying calypso beat. Besides that, all I've heard is some stuff by Les Deserteurs, who seem to be some sort of anarcho-punk thingy.

The Swedes are better at music... Seriously, how many bands go there for training, and get help from the Swedes, and the bands that come from Sweden. Gotta love 'em.

Man, there's so much good French music. Particularly in the rap/hip-hop department. You should try KYO, Manau, Melissa Auf Der Maur, Jonathan Cerrada, Emmanuel Moire, Marc Lavoine. If you want some really good hip-hop/pop/rap, look up DIAM's, MC Solar, Disiz La Peste, Willy Denzey, Humphrey, Amine, K-Maro, Nadiya, Linkup, and Matt Pokora. If you want some, I got lots. IM me, I'll send it to you.
