I have to disagree with the comment below. Lots of women who are that skinny actually have eating disorders, and I find it insulting that anybody would be called a "fat cow" for refusing to starve themselves.

Sleep now, and rest your head, in the morning you'll be dead, no don't cry, please don't dread, cause life is only one path we tread.

I think that anyone who insults these models for being thin and pretty, is just jealous. They wish that they had the self restraint to not eat like fat cows and in the end look like them. If society wasnt so obsessed with looks than being that thin wouldnt be appealing.

Edit: Do not insult YN members on the boards.

Everyone has every right to talk negatively about anyone. That would be like my saying that I (at 113 pounds) have more of a right to talk about someone who is 156 pounds because I work for my body. There is no standard of beauty that gives us rights that someone else doesnt have

Although I do feel that people shouldn't frown upon others who are thin, I also feel that you shouldn't be frowned upon if you are overweight or plus size. However, in this case, you probably don't work as hard, or even at all for your bodytype as other, thin models do, so in my opinion, i feel that you hav even less of a right to talk negativly about them.

I dont understand why women (including myself at times) always have to make themselves feel inadequate. Models are beautiful... but you dont have to be one to be beautiful, nor do you have to be skinny... just healthy. That makes sense right? so why do we tell ourselves differently?

All of you people who have a problem with thin people need to calm down. I feel that you are just jealous of their thin bodies, probably becuse you don't have them.Thin models are able to fit into anything they want without having even the slightest sight of love handles. They work hard for their figures, and you people who don't approve should respect them for it. I myself am a size 1 to a 2 at my height, which is 5"10. Though I am natually gifted with thinness and do not need to work at all for my body, while others work hard to maintain their psysique in order to perservere in thier modeling careers. Thus, all of u HATERS should admire them, not be jealous.

"i hate it when people blame the media for their low self esteem etc."

I completley agree. But if someone does want to point fingers they shouldn't point towards the media, but towards the consumers. If women didn't by their Cosmo, People, US and men didn't buy Maxim or Playboy then the media wouldn't keep putting pictures of skinny girls in the magazines.

Also, most people agree, it is much more pleasing to look at a skinny model rather then a chubby one.

if you hate the way your body looks i say go and do something about it...blaming the magazines and tv for your body image problems isn't going to accomplish anything.

I do agree that the women in magazines are unreal...computers stretch out their limbs, shrink in their stomachs and air brush their eyes. If you look at these pictures carefully, you'll notice little curves on their arms and legs where their joints SHOULD'VE been. This is unfair. It's also unfair to create this impossible standard of beauty that most women can't live up to - most women of normal height *cannot* maintain a weight of 110.

But the backlash is this...here you have women of usual or heavy weight getting angry at thin models, who mock them with their taunting, flat tummies. Then, they begin to say that no "normal" girl should ever be so skinny, that any girl who is is automatically anorexic. And so, the fact that I weigh 96 lbs, is considered some sort of an atrocity, despite the fact that I am only 5 FEET TALL.

In the 8th grade, I *couldn't* wear shorts or a bathing suit around my classmates without everyone making a big deal out of it. The slender girls in my class couldn't wear a mid-thigh length skirt without all the other girls calling her a ****.

"God help you if you are an ugly girl,
But too pretty is also your doom
For everyone harbors a secret hate
For the prettiest girl in the room."

I don't mean that litterally, either. Those little stick figures have no breasts or butt. Some guys always fantasize about that smack. Yeah, that's very ****ing likely. Personally I find girls with a little weight attractive. They have everything a guy could ask for: a full figure including thighs and chest. Now I'm not talking about a crazy huge woman that isn't even healthy. I'm just talking about a little bit so I can get a hold on. It's like Redman said "If I wanna fat ***** who keeps her toes done. When they play my song *** spill out the thong. Am I wrong for that?" If you ladies want more confidence listen to the song Baby Phat by De La Soul.
Cheers,
Thomas

>I believe that ppl who complain about models >being to skinny need to get over it.

i think they are more complaining about how the media tries to sell that 'super skinny' image as the way all girls should be.

>Okay we know that no person will look like that >doll, just like models, normal ppl just don't >
>look like that.

the media doesnt teach that, it teaches the exact oposite. that you CAN and SHOULD look like a barbie doll. and they will sell you the makeup, the clothes, and the plastic surgery to achieve it...

I believe that ppl who complain about models being to skinny need to get over it. Look we are not all that small and we know that, but who wants to look at clothes on someone over weight. IT just doesn't make sense, it's like the barbie doll. Okay we know that no person will look like that doll, just like models, normal ppl just don't look like that. And many models have their own low selfesteems. Weight is not the only reason a person can dislike their body. I say for them to get over the fact that models are skinny, so what, don't get mad at someone else for your own low selfesteem. And if it matters, i'm not a size 1 either, but i just rather feel confortable with my body than make someone else feel unconfortable abou theirs being so small.

i dont find 'toothpick' models, or fake plastic surgery enhanced models to be attractive at all. as a matter of fact i think it looks unhealthy & quite disgusting. dont buy into the media garbage that tells you what your body 'should' look like. as long as your healthy, who cares what ur body looks like...there are as many diffrent opinions of what is attractive as there are people, if someone doesnt like what you look like, f*** them... big grin

ppl have to realize that the ones out there striking the pose are there because their lean bodies will never sho NE pockets of "forbidden fat" no matter what they wear. That way no matter how stupid the clothes are, most people wont notice.

I was in a fashion show once. I was like the second biggest girl in it. FYI that's really sad cause I'm considered pretty skinny. There were all these sticks around me, some very beautiful (others not so much) and I was like wow, if this was the world... i would be obese. It was a fun experience and also an eye opener.

I think that having every model with a stick figure may create an idea that the average girl is fat, and might make her think that she isn't right.

Still, i'm happy for the models that they have a career in which their body is not shunned.
