This behemoth software company is larger than some conglomerate bluechip companies, with an annual net profit of over $23billion...butis faced by troubles. As it were Micosoft has been "very" invunerable to virus attacks created by some jealous computer geeks(cyber-terrorists l call them)just to emasculate the company's hold on the computer industry. It might interest you to know that Microsoft OPerating system is installed in about 90% of world's computer. Now,in 1998 the US government and 19 others states filed an antitrust suit against Microsoft instructing it to divide its company into two in other words sell a chunk of it. Last year, the Other computer gaints dragged Micosoft to the European Commission charging it for "Monopoly"..It goes this way you can't create a website with a visual facility without including the windows media player in it since virtually all computers are on Microsoft OS. Then the EC instructed Microsoft the reveal its secret of its Operating System (thus becoming a open source software Check www.opensource.com)so as to accommodate other software facilities or pay a fine of 612m. Microsoft paid the seemingly paltry amount but how long will this continue,l think Microsoft should comply Monopolising the Industry will increase the numbers of Virus developers thus putting the whole global communications in untenable danger. Your Opinion ...

Are you f---ing serious? You don't remember DR-DOS, Desqview, Unix, and a slew of GUI, multi-tasking operating systems, all competing with Microsh*t back in the day. And life as I know it would certainly not stop even if I had no computer at all. [This message was edited by NuShoesAgain on August 10, 2004 at 10:08 AM.]

My **s. There are other operating systems out there that would have filled the niche if Microsoft hadn't been a success. A doubtless confirmation

Yeah, those bästards... I had to pay $40 to download DirectX 9, and then I had to pay $15 to download the latest version of IE, and then on top of that, the mother****ers had the gall to charge me $3.50 per security update for their worthless, bug-ridden software. Oh, wait. No I didn't.
